The "source" with secret polling.......sounds like some desperate republicans to me.

Ill stick with public polls from reliable "sources"

Romney cannot get enough electoral votes to win. Unless something changes (and Lord knows it can) Obama is going to win. I don't care either way, but the numbers just do not work for Romney right this minute.

It all depends on how the toss up States fall. Obama doesn't have enough solid democratic States to ensure a win so Romney needs to start making headway there. The polls seem to indicate that he is improving (slightly) in battleground States but since the numbers are only trickling one way or the other it tells me that he hasn't struck a good enough message to resonate with people.

I'd say its looking fairly decent for Obama at this point although its going to be very close. I'd predict that in the next few weeks we are going to see a big change in message from Romney. Something to try and push these numbers in battleground States up a little bit. If he stays on current message he would basically be relying on luck to win. He needs to go for broke.

I would advise Obama to just sit back and shut up and try not to make any stupid blunders in the next month and see what Romney can do.

I didn't hear the left crying about wanting "reliable" sources when Harry Reid said on the floor of the Senate that someone with knowledge told him that Romney hasn't paid his taxes. Democrats seemed perfectly willing to take that one on good faith.

Oh, it will be close. But most battleground states are trending Obama. Romney changes his message all the time. I honestly don't think be really believes much of anything.

Romney continuously puts his foot in his mouth. Obama, for all his faults, rarely makes a major gaff in crunch time. That's why I think Romney will never close the gap and Obama wins.

Actually Obama is leading in most battleground States but they are definitely trending for Romney. He has been closing the gap but I'm not sure if its enough. Watching the polls everyday as I do I've noticed they seem to have capped so Romney needs to do something to push them more his way.

Obama saying things like "we didn't build this" certainly doesn't help his campaign nor does coming out in support of gay marriage (which I'm sure he thanked Biden for) so he needs to be non-controversial and not give anyone a reason to switch over too Romney.

Most polls taken today, are based on the same turnout that occurred in 2008, that is the same number that show up to vote (mostly for Obama) and those not bothering to vote (mostly for McCain). If the same turnout would happen on November 6th, Obama will likely win, but because the electoral counts per State have changed and a good many States turned Republican in 2010, in time to act on the census (redistricting), it will be far less a majority.

If however the reverse happens and few Obama high school voters or other groups of young voters or certain segments of his base don't show up to vote and more of those that wouldn't vote for McCain, would vote for Romney show, then the reverse could happen, Romney winning with near 300, Obama around 240. IMO, no current lead by either Candidate under +10 means much, at this point.

I don't think too many people care about either of those things. I heard his whole "we didn't build this" speech and it's completely clear IMO that the attacks against it are being made about something he never meant. In other words, the criticism has real traction with people who are not voting for him anyway. As a radical independent I heard what he actually said and got what he actually meant, so it does not move the meter for me. That's why it never gained traction in the polls. Same sex marriage did not, either. The people who care the most are least likely to vote for him anyway.

I kinda feel like the fix is in. The media is going to re-elect obama come Hell or high water. The will continue to barage the Romney campaign with negative over non-existant gaffs, while burying obama gaffs and real stories about obama administration failures such as the economy and the melt down in the Middle East. I can see the questions at the debates now.

Moderator: "Mr. Romney, the concensus seems to be among the experts that you were wrong in putting out a statement about the peaceful demonstrations at the Egyptian Embassies, are you now ready to admit that you made a mistake in not waiting for more information?"

Romney: "Well, I don't think that violating American territory by breaching the walls and setting fire to the American flag can be called peaceful demonstrations..."

Moderator: "Let me interupt you right there so that we can get a response from the president; Mr. President, Wouldn't you agree that Governor Romney has made a poor decision not to disavow his poorly timed criticism of the Egyptian protestors, that he is wrong for not showing unity beyond our shores by not supporting your administration, and that the response he just gave shows a lack understanding of the Islamic culture?"

It's all about Florida. If Romney doesn't win Florida, he doesn't win the election, in light of his recent comments regarding Latinos he's got a lot of image repair to do between now and November.

My prediction is that Romney loses, not because Obama has done anything to win, but Romney still has the same issues he's always had. Republicans aren't all that thrilled with him so turnout will suffer and independents can't identify with him.

It might just be that Romney is a terrible candidate. No conspiracy is really needed. Democrats will vote for Democrats, Republicans will vote for Republicans. The non-partisans decide the election and all indications are they like Obama a bit better. How can that be you ask? Because he is a terrible candidate. You guys could have easily won this election, but you will blow it. Don't blame the media. Blame the GOP.

Because he is hard to identify with. It is VERY hard for a tried and true, life long blue blood to convince people struggling to stay afloat that he understands and can help. No he doesn't and no he can't. Even more so when his only answer seems to be giving his buddies a tax cut. He comes across as totally out of touch. Obama comes across to most independents as a normal guy. And all polls indicate that W gets the blame for the economy. As I said above, Obama was SO easy to beat, but the GOP will screw the pooch by nominating Thurston Howell as their candidate.

Yup, the GOP had nothing between them but air and opportunity. With the right candidate they could have nailed Obama to the wall on broken campaign promises, the sluggish recovery and foreign policy, instead they're stuck constantly having to play defense because Willard is an out of touch rich guy who doesn't and hasn't ever known what it's like to live pay check to pay check.

Couple that with my other prediction that this election will see a greater third party turn out than any other election in history and it's looking like a safe bet for the incumbent.

Even if he had some grand plan to fix everything (and he does not) he could never convince anyone of that because no one will ever believe he understands what they are going through. Like when his wife said they struggled in college, so they were forced to sell some of Mitt's stock. Oh, that's all people have to do. Just sell some of their millions in portfolio holdings. Duh.

I wouldn't doubt that the president's own internal polling isn't looking good for them. Internal polling for both campaigns is probably a lot more accurate than what we are currently getting in the press; that's because all those are being weighted heavily towards the Democrats for some reason.

Just the other day, I spoke to two recently retired school teachers who voted for Obama last time, but said they are voting for Romney in this election. They also expressed great displeasure in the things Obama has done to our country; our economy; and the direction he's taken us. They were extremely disappointed. I am pretty sure there are a LOT more like them out there.

There is a hint of desperation in the Obama campaign and in the liberal press in the way they are attacking Romney during these past several days. There is a reason for it.

So the non-partisan polling agencies are doing a worse job (despite the fact it's all they do) than the campaigns? That's really what you're saying?

/me mumble something incoherent about sample sizes.

Because they're trying to win? The attacks certainly haven't been one sided.

Keep in mind, both "campaigns" also have donations, crowd size and volunteer workers, to calculate their effort results. It seems from what I hear, Romney is doing better than expected and as actually being reported Obama, well behind 2008 efforts.

Here in Metropolitan Hobbs NM, Romney drew quite a crowd, breaking his "Energy Policy" just prior to the RNC Convention.

Do you really expect us to believe this? These two teachers want to vote for the guy who wants to take away their benefits and pensions? Is there any record of a group supporting Romney/Ryan, i.e., "Teachers for Romney"? I think not.

    I'm not falling for it.
