President Barack Obama is seeking to abolish two highly successful missile programs that experts say have helped the U.S. Navy maintain military superiority for the past several decades.

The Tomahawk missile program—known as “the world’s most advanced cruise missile”—is set to be cut by $128 million under Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget proposal and completely eliminated by fiscal year 2016, according to budget documents released by the Navy.

In addition to the monetary cuts to the program, the number of actual Tomahawk missiles acquired by the United States would drop significantly—from 196 last year to just 100 in 2015. The number will then drop to zero in 2016.

As the world and the Middle East go up in flames Obama, further cuts the defenses of America. Obama has truly Fundamentally Transformed America into a Banana Republic and may be irreparably harmed America, both economically, racially, and defenses of this country. Pick yer' poison. I find this discussion about "the disarming of our forces" because two missile systems are being phased out to be very similar to those who claim that we "need gun laws, and more of 'em". There are way more than plenty of other weapons, and more are being developed at every second. Don't worry. The US will find ways of dominating the rest of the world for as long as the US exists.

 

And I would rather the money be spent maintaining jobs than propping up a bunch of lazy ass moochers.

 

Except we aren't spending less. That deduction is being funneled into the next-gen missile systems.

Just so everyone again is clear, as per the Navy we have more than is required for battle readiness of the Tomahawks. Again, more than required. Why would we build more, which the Navy intelligence says we don't require, instead of investing in next gen missile system?

Do you know why production gets less each year. . .it's cause we don't fire 100 Tomahawks a year.

What does the hellfire do that the maverick can't? As for Tomahawks if the Pentagon says they have too many and a new version is on the way why continue to buy them? I swear you rightwingers freak out every time Obama does anything. It makes it very hard to take any of you seriously.

Plenty of countries get by without stockpiling missiles, why couldn't we?

The US is far from being a Bananna Republic, did you forget we have more military bases, than any other country, spread throughout the world?

 

It's the larger drones carrying the hellfire however our helecopters and planes are capable of deploying the Maverick. Also, much like the tomahawk, a replacement is underway for the hellfire, which was supposed to be replaced by 09. With time it may also replace the maverick and TOW with the goal of being the single air to ground / ground to ground missile platform.

I know you all like to think Obama is just arbitrary cutting programs "to weaken America" but that is just not the case. Question your sources and do some research. Also shut off Rush and Fox. You are all going nuts.

 

Why is it liberals can't respond without lying?

 

And those countries are quick to call the U.S. when there's a threat.
