So if I work for a Catholic institution that pays me 10 dollars for my services, and I use that to buy condoms, does that mean the catholic institution is being forced to commit a sin?

You guys've lost the culture war. The more you talk, the more people are just going to think of you as some old crank.

But you don't have the right to make that call and force your morality on someone who doesn't share it.

and at some point you will push us to the point where we will secede from your piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) social democracy you are trying to build and we'll make sure to leave the socialists nothing but ashes to rule over.

Good luck with a safety net when the land is salted and destroyed.

We'll burn this god (*)(*)(*)(*)ed nation before letting Social Democracy win.

America without Laisezz-faire is no longer America and doesn't deserve to exist. Democracy cannot be used to squash out the Republic or the Founding Intent.

Eh, Laisezz-Faire is just like communism. attractive on paper, a pipe-dream in reality.

    Who cares?
The typical catholic commits at least a dozen mortal sins every day, and just one mortal sin is enough to send you to hell, so a few more won't matter.

Anyway, you people can still trot off to confession and have some pedophile priest absolve you of your evil deeds in exchange for a few mumbled hail marys until you commit the same sin again, so where's the beef?

It's a shame that they can't still sell indulgences.
In today's wired world, it would be so much easier to shop for an indulgence online rather than find a priest for confession.
Maybe if they update the concept to a cap and trade scheme for sinners, they could get some traction with it.

To all the liberals who will listen: winning in politics, like winning in other arenas, often comes down to who wants it more. Listen to this guy. He's for real. If you want to win political fights, you need this kind of intensity. Have the courage of your convictions. If all liberals - beginning with Obama - were serious, really serious, we would have wiped the floor with Con scum these last few years.

No, most of the inhumane and greedy RATS will self-destruct, like a den of thieves operating on values on loan from some realm of evil.

Yes, those who think the way you do WILL destroy themselves (from the inside out)... before others go down for the count; BET ON IT.

    THANK YOU!!

More liberals and moderates need to UNDERSTAND that what you are saying is CRITICAL.

It IS time to fight just as the Right Wing extremists fight. Be as purposefully nasty and strong as they are; otherwise they will devour all of us who are reasonable, before they inevitably destroy themselves... like the criminal mindset they propagate in this society. And that BS needs to be REJECTED; we know it doesn't help anything; it is oppressive TRASH.

So says YOU; but YOU aren't the only person with values and vision. Capitalism has it's place and value... but America has NEVER operated upon that exclusively; it is time for people to own up to that.

The rancid laissez faire capitalism afflicting Americans today, is fit to be reformed, not embraced with abjectly open arms.

You're essentially telling me that we are a Democratic Republic founded upon massive usury and shameful greed; that's exactly what I'm hearing.

    I'm not buying that BS.

The text of the Constitution itself gives Congress the power to levy taxes. We can’t dispute that. It does not give Congress the power under its commerce section to make them do business with private companies, except perhaps by some unusually elastic, agenda driven method of extrapolation . No doubt, paying taxes certainly is part of our duty as citizens to support the government in return for the various protections the government provides. However, what the government is claiming here is the power — and this ought to disturb people on the left — to force people, under the threat of financial retribution, to do business with private companies whenever Congress thinks it expedient. Show me that in the much-abused Commerce Clause!

Personally, I'm more annoyed paying for people who don't have or can't get insurance through higher premiums.

great, then switch to a gov't run health care system, and then people won't have to be forced to do business with a private company. just the gov't. works up here

If they could come up with a good one that didn't end up like Medicare gone berserk then that wouldn't bother me.

Give me a link to where HF pushes "forcing people, under the threat of financial retribution, to do business with private companies whenever Congress thinks it expedient."

Apparently you haven't learned not to bear false witness.

    Jesus doesn't approve of that.
