    Its simple.

To simply be a citizen of the state you live in, or the nation for that matter, you don't need to own a car and have car insurance.

obviously you didnt click any of the links.

you can more on your money by borrowing against the home, and investing it, than your interest rate will be on your loan, especially with the write off.

    4% loan....plus the write off....

when your money can earn you a higher percent investing it.

As most people are right now, they are underwater on their mortgage due to the housing bubble. And once inflation hits, most mortgage loans will be about 7% which no write off will counter balance interest incurred.

I did not ask why we need reform, I asked why we needed Obamacare.

If most of the citizens have insurance. why do we need a 2,000+ page bill?

    I dont understand the question....

as if somehow the number of uninsured has something to do with the length of the bill?

the iraq war left how many us soldiers dead? how long was it?

Even if people plan for rainy days hospital bills can be enormous. I understand that companies offer benefits, I was just wondering if Obamacare mandated that companies do so. If Obamacare does not mandate it, what are companies/ employers complaining about?
I would love to have the capital and knowledge to be a health insurer company and compete. If some companies are making billions in profit, heck, I would be happy with millions, or even 100's of thousands.

My insurance is 20/80 and costs just under a grand (paid for by employer).
Would my employer be happier if he/she only had to pay $400 instead?
Take 100 million citizens x $400 a month, that's a MONTH. $40 billion a month x 12 months. $480 billion. Wrap it all together with medicare and medicaid and all could be paid for.
100 million is just 1/3 the population as some of the population is elderly, children, or making far to little (under 30k year) to afford $400. Still those making under $30k could pay in as well just not as much as $400.
Maybe add another 50 million citizens paying only $200 a month adding an additional couple hundred $$$ billions a year.
Then we definitely have to go after the price gouging of the health care system it's self. $100 for one darn pill ??? Pleaseeee.

If you drive a car and you make under a certain amount, you still have to pay about the same as everyone else in car insurance.

Obamacare does mandate companies provide insurance, and it must be a plan that meets the requirements of a government agency.

If they do not provide it, than they are fined X mount of dollars.

And whats wrong with forcing employers to offer insurance. That is your duty to your workers. An unavoidable expense much like paying your rent or electric bill. The reason people work is to make money and have benefits. Nobody cares if the company has to pay more. And they shouldn't.

No its not. Since when is it your duty as an employer to provide insurance?

Benefits such as insurance, and other benefits offered by employers started after WW2 when companies wanted to get the best workers they could and would start to provide benefits to persuade the best workers they could find to their companies.

The government should not be forcing employers to do anything. Force has no place in a democratic society.

that is force. If you don't do, "X", than you will get "Y".

When there is no option to, not participate, that is being forced.

Or a closer analogy is SS. If Congress doesn't have the power to mandate that you have health insure, I don't see how you could square that with the power to mandate you have pension/survivor/disability insurance.
