The impact of covid has to be low enough that people won't continue eschewing "places with faces" where many of our businesses deliver services—restaurants, bars, clubs, theaters, hotels, etc. We can't continue massive government spending to keep the economy afloat.

Our forum rightwing extremists tout Florida and Texas, but what they don't understand is that spending for Texas and Florida products by people in other states, buoyed by federal money, is unsustainable.

What are you suggesting should have been done differently - US in general is 3 times higher than Canada .. and lots of old folks living in Florida.... so 5 times higher not a surprize in terms of the US rate of death.

It is strange that there is a 300% difference in these numbers in general .. suggesting something is wrong with US numbers .. such as counting people dying with covid rather than of covid. Nashville numbers were overstated by 100%.

If we cut the US death rate in half .. we would be more in line with Canada.

Sure .. but no one was vaxed for Alpha .. and Delta was already raging prior to Vax being widely adopted .. by the time folks had two doses Omicron was already taking over.

Not that it matters for India/Africa as very few were vaxed when Alpha/Delta went through .. and not many in Africa when Omicron went through .. with far better outcome than in the US ... presumably due to treatment .. which was smart.. very smart. Agreed need to cut more than 3 times - US death rate is around 2600 / million vs India 360/ million. In India if you got covid you got a treatment kit which saved many lives - reduced hospitalizations - severe illness (ICU)

Treatment is being demonized .. Masks are a different deal. Masks can be effective if used in conjunction with a "hard" lockdown .. Australia turned out to be smart in hindsight - they are still going to get "Covid" .. but the weaker versions having avoided the nasty earlier ones.

Two wars war 1) immune system .. which is being attacked by the virus - the vax can help immune compromized fight the virus.

War 2) The war that will kill you 9 times out of 10 .. good bacteria vs bad bacteria aka pneumonia. The vax is useful for War 1 but does nothing for war 2 other than resore air cover a bit quicker for the immune compromized.

Your bacteria - 9 bacterial cells for every 1 human cell - your "Biome" are constantly fighting the bad bugs - throughout your life. If you don't get killed by a meteor, cancer, ex wife -- you will die a "Natural death" = the bad bugs eventually win the war and you die from pneumonia.
