We probably need an impartial auditing system. I don't trust either side. But, it would be fun with the Left auditing Right wing spending and the Right auditing Left wing spending. Whoever is in power has corrupted the spending in great detail.

I don't think the public's opinion should matter for much of the spending.

We don't really have a clue about most of what is going on, so we shouldn't be making that level of choices.

As long as you agree that the government gets carte blanche to spend money however it wants to while spending money on programs that the vast majority of American's disagree with often. That is all you. For me, I prefer to reduce the levels of corruption.

Yea, for corruption, i think we need to do much more. People elected to office shouldn't have any privacy, IMO. We should know their every move.

Auditing budges is certainly part of that.

Agreed. Hillary, Trump and Biden would probably all be in jail if there was true transparency.

and plenty of others, most of them probably.

Or if there was true transparency, there would be fewer criminals in office.

    I read:
"This funding, championed by Republicans and Democrats alike, supports brave civil society leaders and human rights activists in Venezuela who are opposed to the Maduro regime,"

    It's weird.
What's next? China investing money to promote it's communism in the US?

Yeah, yeah. How dare the Democrat Governors follow the shutdown advised by Trump while he was POTUS.

And how dare the State Governors not usurp the POTUS and take control of the National Guard.

LOL, tell me, do you ever tire of being a forever victim where you place yourself daily?

We have been doing this for decades. But the programs for "democracy" can range from Radio Free Venezuela to encouraging and educating Venezuelans on what is essentially Democracy. But it is a small investment in our budget. And we want a more stable Venezuela without a dictator in play, right?

A group of CPAs and Tax Attorneys with no political affiliation? let's try the Joint Committee on Taxation? Or would you prefer Earnest and Young, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, BDO, or KMPG?

Your post is just another example I see her on PF of the left reinventing the domino theory in one form or another. IMHO it is in out interest to use our money to solve problems in America. Not be 33 Trillion in debt and spending our money to solve other peoples problems.

You are citing a $40 million expenditure for democracy programs, in Venezuela. As democracy has taken root in many former non-democratic countries, I see no reason for your automatic dismissal of this, as a waste of funds. It certainly doesn't sound like a "cash grab," or pork, for the constituents-- you know, back in this country? This raises my curiosity as to how you, then, view a Republican addition to the Budget, above what President Biden had requested, in military spending, more than 1000 times as large as that: $45 BILLION?
