Other than putting holes in paper, or slaughtering innocents, what purpose can an AR15 serve?

They (AR 15) are very dangerous to use for home defense, as the bullets lose little thru walls.

Have you ever fired a pistol or a shotgun or a rifle or a carbine like the AR 15.

First off, pistols and shotguns carry quite a kick - the recoil from a large pistol could break someones wrist and the shotgun could break a clavicle or seriously bruise a shoulder. The AR 15 has a strong, but not powerful recoil. Anyone could handle an AR 15 and keep it on target.

Next is penetrating power. A handgun bullet or shotgun pellet will go through people and walls like butter. The new .223 ammo is built to disintegrate into pieces on contact. It won't go through a person and then a wall, or if there's a miss, it won't go through a wall. Look at Winchester’s new .223 PDX1.

Finally is all around ease of handling - if needed, my 4'11" wife could handle an AR 15

I've heard all of the pro and con arguments, hand gun vs shotgun vs rifle or carbine and in my opinion, when it comes to all around ease and understanding of handling, safety, accracy and stopping power, I'll go with the AR 15 for home defense

People have been VERY lucky that crazies now believe the .223 AR15 is the ultimate killing firearm. Had the Las Vegas shooter, Pulse nightclub shooter or any of the other incidents been using a bland looking, wood stock Springfield M1A .308, the high wound rate instead would have been a vastly higher kill rate - over twice the energy and in a tight crowd with black tip ammo 1 round could kill 2 or 3 people per shot. Worse, could have used a big truck or bomb. The Vegas shooter could have killed thousands with his pilot's license and a rented aircraft.

 

Setting aside there are a billion high capacity magazines out there already, nearly any fool could convert any magazine to higher capacity with simple materials and no machining or complex tools. Some thin sheet metal, hammer to bent it over a board, tin snips, a spring, and duct tape would do it. Or could get REALLY technical and used a soldering iron.

The second amendment is not merely about home defense. In fact, it has nothing to do with it at all. It is to keep our federal government from becoming tyrannical. The fact that you still don't get this, despite being told this so many times makes me wonder what's going on. Are you trolling us?

Personally I don't care for AR15s. I prefer to a rifle that throws a bigger shell, though a bullpup with a 42 rd in 5.56 is no slouch. Look up the velocity and energy of a 30.06 or .308 and compare it to a .223 sometime and you'd understand my point.

Even a 100+ year old Winchester model 94 30-30 carries more kill energy for at least the first hundred yards or so than a .223. Ever see the old TV show "the Rifle Man?" 15 .44 caliber rounds. 120 years ago. "The gun that won the west." Those are really scary too, huh?

 

When the officer comes to take possession of your AR-15, we will let you explain it to him. lol

BTW, the "unborn" are not "individuals" or "babies". Check definitions. And if they are not individuals or babies, aborting them at 15 weeks is no different than removing an appendix, except that removing an appendix presents greater risks.
