I dont put a lot of faith in the accuracy of phone polls, its not hard to program an autodialer to call a certain demographic and 'find' whatever results you want, what with all the metadata being traded around.
At any rate, it certainly seems like more people than I had hoped have been roped into this fearmongering and demonization propaganda campaign against Russia. If we succeed in goading them into a war, I cant think of a more tragically pointless way to destroy civilization, humanity and likely the planet.
Russia is the graveyard of Empires. Its where they tend to go right before they fall.

A cowboys and Indians poll for which the world consists of only Allies OR Enemies - for which everyone who is not an ally is therefore an enemy. Foreign policy by cartoon character analysis.

And Obama belittled Romney when Romney said Russia is our biggest threat. Obama said to ; " Hey Romney, the 1980's called and wants their foreign policy back".

I see somebody suddenly acquired deep passion towards RT. Such a windy persona our Litwin is..!

And seriously. A poll. Wooooooow. Such important latest news, a poll. In which participated “landline and cellphone interviews with some 1,011 randomly chosen registered voters.”

Can you imagine that? A whole thousand voters, it's almost as much as lives in a couple apartment buildings..!

ugh... I have to be honest I despise these bad guys lists, it's so simplistic.

I would like the threat list to stop focussing on a nation in particular, frequently it's partially interests not aligning. Like Russia in Syria an ally and Russia's cyberwarfare a threat internally.

There are many threats to the US, demonising one nation above another is a mistake, it also makes people lose perspective.

I think terrorism is the biggest threat the world over and if I absolutely must pick a nation, I think China is the US's biggest threat because it's passive aggressive and will overtake the US economy in 20 years.

Ah, yes, but polls don't seem that accurate anymore.

I agree with this poll, Russia is the enemy, I'd urge unitedstatians to oppose Russia, Putín and his minions in every way, their interests are not his.

This is why I am so pleased over the election of Trump; his steadfast upholding of sanctions against Russia for their intervention in Ukraine and seizure of Crimea, his bombardment of Russia's chemical weapons air base in Syria, his welcome to NATO of Montenegro and affirmation of support to Georgia as it confronts Russian intervention, are all very positive steps from a properly motivated US leader. I thank my god every day Trump was elected.

First of all, in my case it is a correct to apply that term. Second, "russian" also serves as term for citizens of Russian Federation. If we would've spoke in Russian, terms would've been "русские" and "россияне", but in English language that difference is absent.

I was under the imprrssion that it was Star Wars that ultimately did the Soviet Union in. They tried too hard to counter a program that didn't exist. Though Im sure Afghanistan helped in draining them as well, and every other aspect of the Cold War.

Ultimately, I would say collectivism killed the Soviet Union.

Even Communism couldnt survive Russia ;)

You also forget about such phenomenon as "Parade of Sovereignities" - a backlash of constitution of 1977, that reformed SU into a unitary state - decidion which found relatively low acceptance among citizens of soviet countries. As result - increased the strive for sovereignity, that resulted in massive barrage of referendums and proclamations of automy, sovereignity, or independence from Soviet Union by it's subjects, including RSFSR in June of 1990.

Despite the Communist Party being, effectively, a backbone of Soviet Union it was not the only structure that existed in it, and administrations of soviet republics were not too eager to have their authority taken from them and passed to an even more centralized form of Union government.
