Your misplaced outrage is duly noted. Obama has nothing to do with this.

    - - - Updated - - -

Your point of the thread is Obama let this happen.
Nothing in the OP says anything about a D hanging it.

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this. The first amendment does not say the goverment must support your art let alone speech.

    Did I blame Obama? No.

However he could have this removed, but chooses not to I guess. Thanks for the reminder.

Nope. It looked like a flamebait thread. Blaming obama in the 1st sentence for something not even related to him. So I deemed the thread a joke.

While the Obama stuff is a bit ridiculous, the info that it was a democrat was in the OP. You just had to click a link.

Right, but this was at Webster Univ. Explain how he is responsible for this being on display at the Capitol when Repubs are in charge.

Little update on this one. Seems someone had the balls and the decency to do what needed to be done.

That stupid offensive "painting" has been taken down by a Senator personally.

Noone banned anything. The story mentioned that Lacy is free to put it back up, and Hunter is allowed to take it back down. Our nations capitol is no place for calling our law enforcement pigs, and painting false narratives like innocents being murdered.

Usually you would say art imitates life, but in this instance I guess we would say art imitating lies?

he used force to prevent speech, in the old days this would have escalated into a duel.

Yeah I'm sure you would be defending a picture of a black person being lynched.

    More liberal hypocrisy.

a famous french man named Voltaire said the following, it was later repeated by an infamous liberal english woman named evelyn beatrice hall

"I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It"

It's an interpretation of the unrest that followed after the fatal shooting, according to the article.

We live in a nation where we are supposed to be free to criticize the government. One might even say that Constitution implies the government should welcome such criticism. I think it's the right call from the government to display the picture. It's not it's place to pass judgment on its validity. That's reserved for the people, and we are doing exactly that on this thread.

The machine of American Liberty is working quite nicely, in this situation at least.

Display 'Nativity Scene' art in the nation's capitol building during Christmas, and leftists will present an altogether different interpretation of the 1st Amendment....

    What force?

He walked up with a screwdriver and took it down. Noone is guaranteed any "right" for their bad art to be hung anywhere.

Heck, they go as far as to remove from the air re-runs of an old TV show, the Dukes of Hazard, from obscure channels because someone might catch a glimpse of the confederate flag on the top of an old car.

    - - - Updated - - -

And the ..."artists" right to paint it was not infringed. It doesn't mean it belongs anywhere and everywhere on display.

The government ought to be allowed to put up such displays, so long as it is willing to put up displays requested by any religious group.

An ex-Marine Congressman took it down and gave it to the St. Louis activist Congressman who had it put it.

Disagree of course. The Constitution doesn't give any right for this picture to be hung in any certain spot, only that a painter can express themself and paint it.

Again though, what authority did he have to take it down? Does he emotional outrage give him the right to pull it down? No politician should be allowed that authority. Let the people leave their disgusted comments as a record of it's distastefulness.
