Yes many times it's gone downhill massively in the last decade when I went in the 90's it was a very different much safer place. Last time I went in 2017 it was nasty and the first time I felt unsafe in Paris.

Reminded a lot of Berlin which has had a similar transition although in Berlin it's the parks where they have invaded.

I also went Amsterdam last year and you feel a lot safer than either Berlin or Paris.

Paris has become a San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Well at least I can say back during the 1970's I've been to London when London was London and been to France and Germany basically Europe when Europe was still Europe.

Then again, I remember when California was the Golden State and when America was great.

 

The big difference is the French are far more likely to elect a right winger than California ever is.

Italy and France are both starting to lean to the right, there is still some hope for Europe but it's not looking good. Merkel AND May need to go!

 

There's a saying: Throw a crab in boiling water, it will jump out. But slowly start heating up the water with the crab already in it, it will boil alive before it realizes what's happening.

If the change that's happened in Paris over the last 20 years had happened over a few months, people would have been outraged and demanded someone put a stop to it.

A lot of children are growing up now, having never seen Paris look any different. That will be normal to them.

Unbelievable, this does not look like Paris!

 

I am a huge fan of Marine Le Pen as a Nationalist. You want to see a real woman affect social change in her country, I think she'd be a tremendous leader for the French though she suffered greatly in the third debate. It doesn't matter how wonderful your ideas are or how well received they are, if you can't present a winning image in contrast to your opponent.

But clearly Macron is a one-term President in France, which I'm not surprised by. I compared him to Jeb Bush. The French are getting the kind of political hack they voted for.
