Pence is obviously testing the political waters for a run in 2024. He's using his alleged integrity in contrast to Trump's to do it. I can't stand politicians who run on the platform of denigrating their opponents. If you don't have anything to say about what matters to average Americans then just shut up.

I don't disagree. It was a calculated move. But, sadly, he was using a very old and outdated calculator if he thinks that this one statement is going to erase from our memories all the toadying he did while Trump's VP.

He has been in politics his whole life and has never earned a private sector dollar as far as I can find.
So the guy is just one more swamp candidates trying to "keep things like they always have been".
Memo to Pence: America is drowning in bad governance, and you are a part of it.

If he was trying to score political points, a gridiron dinner wasn't the place to do it. He should have stayed with the theme of the event, a lighthearted roasting of others.
Politically speaking though, he will now be seen as a day late and a dollar short because he should have spoken up about how he now purports to feel about 1/6 way back when.

He won't get your vote, but it doesn't matter.

He's using an event he thinks resonants with voters. It's a calculated move, but as another pointed out his calculation machine is outdated.

Pence had the opportunity to set the record straight on Jan 6, 7, 8, etc...

    He chose to remain silent.
If he was in danger, he should have made it public how dangerous trumps words are to him and the democracy of the USA.
    A little late now.
Or is it, better late than never?

    Well, I'm not going there....

If you substitute "yes men" for "good men", he's as close as anybody in MAGA is to meeting this old maxim....

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,”

I'm usually a big believer in better late than never, but this is WAY too late and using the wrong method to boot.

If Pence had come out firing after 1/6 (so to speak), who knows what might have happened? He'll wonder that until the day he dies....

    Nope, Pence had no authority.

On January 29, 1877, Congress passed and President Grant signed the Electoral Commission Act to break the impasse. The House and Senate named five members each to serve on the commission, and the Supreme Court named five associate justices to serve. The commission would decide “the true and lawful electoral vote of such State” if a state sent multiple electoral slates to Congress.

It just goes to show, just how one and actually all the politicians that were upset with what trump got to transpire that day are cowards and will put their own political life long career over the well being of the country.

Indeed he won't. Nor the votes of any decent people who value 'doing the right thing' over abandoning your principles for power. And yes, I know you will just say that's any politician - but Pence just made it dead easy to identify and verify the fact.

Now you lost me. I'm married to a Democrat and whereas I don't agree with her choice, she's one of the most decent people I know. Your comment is a broad brush condemnation of a group of people. I can't give anything else you say serious consideration.

    If she is/was, I'd say she's misregistered...

Saying that decent humans value those who put 'doing what's right' over power isn't painting with a broad brush. I would say that is the very definition of 'decency'.

To honor our new Best Picture winner, Pence's 2 year-late comments are Nothing, Nowhere, All at once....

Well, now the bully is coming up with more revisionist history in response

    SNIP
Donald Trump, whose coup attempt on Jan. 6, 2021, put his vice president’s life at risk as a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol, on Monday blamed Mike Pence for the violence that day because he didn’t go along with the scheme.

“Had he sent the votes back to the legislators, they wouldn’t have had a problem with Jan. 6,” the former president told reporters on a flight to an Iowa campaign stop. “So in many ways, you can blame him for Jan. 6.”
    ENDSNIP

It's like blaming the security guards working the Twin Towers for not evacuating the buildings at 8:30....

    Such an assclown....

And the media must repeat his lie, over and over so, his message gets out there. He's specifically appealing to his audience and since he's day trading, is just trying to solidify the R national nomination. Maybe he's got plans for foreign help again and a disinformation campaign down the line. I don't underestimate how low they will go...

Yeah, I felt a bit bad over regurgitating his nonsense, but if he's going to lie (and he is), at least he's wasting them on other MAGA's, instead of trying to hurt the country.....

Good point... blame Pence for 1/6? Did something not perfect happen on 1/6?
