I think we have known this for several days now, did it take them this long to come up with a cover story? Who is being disciplined for the mistake, I missed part of the Generals statement or is this another "we need to just move on" or "we just need to focus going forward" government BS thingy.

And Biden says we can successfully carry out such strikes from thousands of miles away "over the horizon".

You're damn right if he had gotten the Americans out before he had the military sneak out we wouldn't have had to immediately go back and this innocent and his family working for us wouldn't have happened.

"Army Maj. Gen. William Taylor said at the time of the strike that there were no known civilian casualties. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the U.S. did not notify nor coordinate with the Taliban ahead of the strike. He added that the Defense Department did not notify other countries in the region nor U.S. lawmakers."
    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/17/us-...s-including-seven-children-pentagon-says.html

WAIT A MINUTE..........we are being told that the Taliban is now very business like and great to work with and we have the highest confidences, that Biden allowed them to take Kabul and secure the city and how we had coordinated with them and our perimeter and everything was great.

Now they say they did not coordinate this strike with them, the security they were relying on, or even notify them.

    It was a MISTAKE.

Nobody wants "collateral damage" but, sometimes things happen.

At least they owned it (and admitted the mistake):

"This strike was taken in the earnest belief that it would prevent an imminent threat to our forces and the evacuees at the airport, but it was a mistake and I offer my sincere apology," he said.
McKenzie added that he is "fully responsible for this strike and this tragic outcome."

As opposed to the Coverups that defined Trump's term:

Glad to see they had the integrity to admit they were wrong. That is rare these days

Bad title. 10 innocent people were murdered by Biden and his cronies to divert attention away from his failings. At least someone slipped up and admitted the truth for a change.

For those of you on the left and right that believed what the fake news and the US government told you two weeks ago....let this be a lesson. They lie, that's all they do.

So will Milley recommend to the President the firing of those whose intelligence assessments were so wrong and those who tried to create the multiple explosion coverup story?

The right is acting like this was the first 'friendly fire' incident to ever happen. They should also be reminded that this was not by Biden but rather someone in the Biden administration.

    Exactly.

Collateral Damage and Friendly Fire are one of (among the many) tragic consequences of military action.

And the left is acting as usual trying to divert and excuse. It was HIS plan, it is HIS assertion that he could effectively conduct such attacks "over the horizon". Who gave the final OK on this, was Biden informed before the strike and gave his OK? If so what was he told and by whom? Did anyone at the WH tell the military they needed a strike find one, give us a target we can hit in some retribution?

And now we are going to pay compensation to the families. And we are going to pay to help the Afghan population not starve. And we are going to pay whatever we agreed to pay for the Taliban to let our evacuation happen.

And with Afghanistan now in control of terrorists we are going to pay in American lives from all the terrorism they are going to export around the globe.

…wasnt the whole damn point of this to stop dying and spending money??

    epic epic fail

And officers who negligently order such attacks are subject to courts martial.

    Friendly Fire” Pilot Loses Appeal

Less than two weeks after Maj. Harry Schmidt was found guilty of dereliction of duty, the Air National Guardsman lost his appeal to set aside the punishment imposed. Schmidt faces a letter of reprimand and a fine of $5,672—the maximum allowed under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The saga began April 17, 2002, when Schmidt, an Illinois Guardsman flying an F-16, mistakenly bombed Canadian troops participating in night exercises in the Tarnak Farms area of Afghanistan. Four Canadians were killed and eight injured. Gen. (sel.) Bruce Carlson, commander of 8th Air Force at Barksdale AFB, La., was the presiding authority for Schmidt’s nonjudicial hearing. (See “Aerospace World: ANG Pilot Found Guilty of Dereliction,” August, p. 13.) Schmidt immediately appealed to Carlson to set aside the punishment meted out July 6, but Carlson denied his request. Under Article 15 of the UCMJ, the appeal was sent to the next superior authority, which, in this case, was Gen. Hal M. Hornburg, commander of Air Combat Command. Hornburg, Schmidt’s last recourse, denied the appeal on Aug. 3.

Will anyone be held accountable for this even worse case?

OH, well THAT makes it OK then.

Why are you trying to mitigate what happened here?

    I don't think it's Biden's fault at all.

I just wanted to catch you off guard.

On the other hand, the drone operator who pushed the button and the officer who ordered him to do so must have a lot of trouble sleeping.

Admitting is easy and in this case unavoidable too much outside evidence which had already proved despite previous statements by the government that the strike killed innocent people including children and the target was NOT a terrorist but and ALLY, who will have the integrity to hold people to the consequences for their actions?

come on, do not pretend you actually care about these people now.

were you not just the one that said they should not be allowed to be brought to the US the other day?
