    Old people used to carry canes. Hell, everybody did, most were more than serviceable cudgels too. Nowadays we have these "walkers" which just slow you down quite a bit and do nothing else afaics.

    Yes, indeed -- "Note this people. We are already at war with the enemy."

    And while you're at it, 'note this', too -- our enemy is unified, organized, purposeful, and at least enjoying the benefits of LAW AND ORDER AMONG ITS CITIZENS! Now... contrast our enemy with us! Think about it honestly for one minute -- they actually kind of LIKE who they are, and they enjoy the benefits of living in a society where crime is rigorously suppressed. Do WE?! We are in a state of lawless disarray, but our enemy is not! Can you see how this is not something that is 'good'...? :roll:

    And if it can be seen a gun can make a generally vulnerable person (and who isn't to a gang) into a target. A gun has obvious premium properties as a stolen good, it's like carrying a bar of gold about in some areas.

    A concealed weapon would have when he got back up.

    If they were not little cowards they were not attack in a pack from behind. So if they saw one of the little buddies winning the stupid prize that comes with stupid games the rest of them would scatter.

    I doubt he was in any fit state to get out a gun after being hit. He was then hit again while trying to get up. No weapons would have helped him in this event after he was hit

    That appears to have happened outside a senior center and if so, it was probably the end result of a series of similar attacks that have been largely ignored. Old people are easy targets as any natural predator knows and they don't pose much threat to an attacker. Even if carrying a gun the victim has to read the situation and get out front of the attack or you're down, gun less and in some pain if not dead.
