So, you have or have not attacked armed people? You aren't making a lot of sense.

Just poor, misguided youths. Mc Donld's probably refused to honor their foodstamps. Obviously, the only thing for them to do was attack an old man. Let's not forget the old vet's lack of personal responsibility in the matter. He was out alone, at night. Shame on him. The gang of youth's may have been frustrated after spending the day looking for a job. No jobs?...let's blame the incident on those greedy corporations that have moved all the jobs offshore.

The victim being a Vietnam vet isn't the issue here. The issue is a middle aged man going about his business being attacked by a group of young thugs.

Would there be less public outcry if the victim had been a dentist, motor mechanic or unemployed?

I disagree with you on this one Makedde. A group beating of a defenseless man, irrespective of his age is just plain nasty. It's the pits.

These idiots if convicted need to do time. Throw the book at them!

Let citizens exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Pointing out a problem with vicious criminals in urban areas is living in perpetual fear? Couldn't it be rational concern? For instance, I've been living in Chicago for about a year and a half now and there's been several shootings, robberies, and assaults within a five minute walking radius of my residence. Two thugs with saw-offed shotguns robbed a bunch of students at my college campuses's train stop a few weeks ago. I'm certainly not "living in perpetual fear", but it's definitely a concern.

That's obviously not true. Violence has causes and by addressing or at least attempting to mitigate those causes, you can do something about it.

Volunteer work? Are you joking? These young men (and I use that term very loosely) are nothing more than mindless, vicious thugs who are probably PROUD of their attack on this defenseless old man. They have absolutely no regard for human life and decency. Volunteer work is for traffic violations, not vicious animals.

I'm not interested in them learning any "respect", which is why I favor indeterminate prison sentences for violent offenders. They can rot prison until they die, for all I care.

Did O-Dogg spend four years in the Marine Corps infantry and seven months in Iraq? If not, he and the rest of his thug buddies are at a decided disadvantage if they try to draw down on me...:)

indeterminate prison sentences, does that sound familiar to the government holding detainees for indefinite periods of time. they are entitled to rehabilitation programs and job training services they have too much time on their hands. they shouldn't be treated like enemies of the state

this is an abuse of government and violation of individual liberties, the youths aren't getting enough self help programs to keep their time occupied because there is not enough money in government budgets to assist them so they are treated the same way as the enemy and sent to internment camps when they make mistakes from being oppressed

Ya, I'm gonna call bull(*)(*)(*)(*). My best guess is that you're some fashion victim punk rock wannabe who hangs out on Mill avenue, showing off your latest hot topic apparel to your jerk off buddies.

Also, I'm not saying people don't get jumped in AZ, I've been jumped by gang banging (*)(*)(*)(*) head cholos before, but that's noting compared to these mobs of animals roaming the streets looking for a person to kick the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of.

If they are ever released from prison, which is likely, they will probably do the same thing again. You need to make them learn from their wrong doings and jail will make them worse.

There's some real social progress going on here that every one seems to have missed:

It's an integrated gang! Blacks AND one hispanic!

Liberal sentiment, such as this, is why liberals prove they are a detriment to civil society. Even something as grotesque as young adults nearly beating a senior citizen to death is something they can't hold the dregs of society accountable for. It's always someone else's fault. It's never the person committing the crime's fault. Personal responsibility and accountability are conservative hogwash. If you're poor, it's okay to pulverize senior citizens, because the 'rich' people didn't give you enough handouts or volunteer enough time with you.

Just out of curiosity, where exactly did you get your source that gives the socioeconomic status of these young adults? Did you even find a source, or are you simply stereotyping black people as poor and underprivileged, because their parents could not provide a proper raising for them?

Well therein lies the problem. Our prison system is too much like a 4 star resort, and the sentences aren't long enough. All 6 of these losers should be tried for attempted murder, sentenced to about 20 years, and the prisons should be modeled after Sheriff Joe's in AZ.
