A gunman killed eight people and injured several others before killing himself in a late-night shooting at a FedEx facility near the Indianapolis airport, police said.

 

It was the latest in a recent string of mass shootings across the U.S. Last month, eight people were fatally shot at massage businesses across the Atlanta area, and 10 died in gunfire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.
It was at least the third mass shooting this year in Indianapolis alone. Five people, including a pregnant woman, were shot and killed in January, and a man was accused of killing three adults and a child before abducting his daughter during at argument at a home in March.

Really tragic that there are so many people who (apparently) feel that this is a prudent way to exercise their 2nd Amendment "rights".

My sympathy goes out to the victims and families.

 

Amazing when you consider that many on this board would recommend more guns in the hands of more people as the solution to this.

This is a mental health issue and not a gun or 2nd amendment issue, even though some here would sensationalize it as such! More than a year of a pandemic with lockdowns, job losses, and other major stress challenges never faced by the people of these times, spells mental health disasters with more to come.

I bet you if you could ask those people he killed if they wish they had been armed and ready when he started shooting, almost all of them would say yes. Unfortunately they weren’t all armed.

 

I agree that mental illness has always existed. That’s what I said...it’s found in people in all countries. But, in most of those countries, they don’t shoot one another (and themselves) with the frequency that the US has demonstrated for decades.

The difference is the crazy availability of firearms...

 

Meanwhile the majority of Americans who owen a firearm didn't commit any type of gun crime.

Having said that, a shooting like this is just an average Tuesday in Chicago or Detroit...

 

480,000 people are killed in the United States every year from SMOKING and 41,000 from SECOND HAND SMOKE, that's like a Mass Shooting where 1427 people are shot and killed EVERY DAY. Why aren't Democrats trying to BAN! Cigarettes, since they Kill SO! many more Americans every year than Assault Rifles. My sympathy goes out to the Victims and Families of Smoking Violence every year.
