I'm reminded of the guy in Seattle who was standing outside of his house. Who's right and wrong here? Will the officers lose their jobs:

Here's a real article on this story

    https://news.yahoo.com/black-alabama-pastor-says-wrongfully-135812549.html

Obviously no problem with the police responding and questioning the man, who for some reason refused to provide ID and was being snotty to the officers, but once the person who made the call to authorities saw better who the man was and vouched for him, it should have been game over...

That is wasn't is likely going to be a problem for these officers...

Also, for you fans of the Current Events forum (like myself), this incident happened in May....

I watched the video of this encounter on TikTok yesterday. Coincidentally I am watering our neighbors plants and garden while they are out of town for 2 weeks. I can't imagine something like that happening here. They sent 3 cars to the scene.

The interesting thing is when they spoke to the female neighbor they seem to totally believe her without asking for any ID and accepted what she said as the truth where as with the Pastor they said "How do I know you are telling me the truth?".

No, he was arrested for refusing to show his ID when requested by the cops. Alabama is a "must show ID" state.

The Leftists are all law-and-order-and-support-law-enforcement now. Right?

Apparently it is not required by Alabama law to show ID on private property. I am no legal expert so feel free to dispute this. The pastor claimed to have worked in law enforcement and said he did not have to show ID. BTW I am watering my neighbor's garden while they are out of town and I never carry a wallet or ID while I am working in the yard or watering plants.

I think the reason why this story is circulating now is because the body cam video was recently released and the lawsuit has just been announced.

The analysis I saw said ID is only required if on public property. They said you do not have to show ID on private property. I don't know if that is true but that is what was circulating yesterday.

It's Alabama state law to show ID on request and Jennings wasn't on HIS property. The cops were investigating a possible trespass. He was legally required to show his ID.

But he was on the private property of his friend by invitation. Like I said I know nothing about Alabama laws but the lawyers I watched discussing this yesterday claimed you do not have to show ID on private property. Also when you are working at home in the garden or watering plants do you carry ID with you?

    From the article:

What is this profile he's talking about, can he describe it to us? Playing the profile card is about as racist as it comes since the person saying it believes the people he's referring to are mostly bad or somehow earned a bad reputation and then he applies it to everyone in the group. The good pastor, according to the author, got a raw deal based on a rap created by others within his group.

Thanks for the vid. I agree that he was unnecessarily antagonistic. Just get the ID from across the road, dude. FFS.

The mistake the police made was was not immediately letting him go once someone verified for him.

What law requires you to carry around an ID in Alabama?

And the cops were investigating a possible trespass, breaking and entering. They had good reason to confirm that Jennings' story added up.

If Jennings didn't have his ID on him, he could have simply said it was at his house and I'm sure the cops would have allowed him to retrieve it. But, instead, Jennings broke the law by refusing to show his ID.

    Law and order. Right?

Jennings told them his name, birth date, where he lived, his profession and where he worked. The whole point was he felt he did not have to show ID nor did the officers tell he to retrieve it in the video. He gave them all of the necessary information for someone without ID.

Also what law did he break? All charges were dropped?

You did realize this was part of the link you provided on wikipedia.

BTW he gave his name, address and explanation for his actions.

When your wife is murdered by a thug arrested more than 30 times and out on bond by the progressive DA, can the progressive DA be sued? It is utterly shocking that the above story is lawsuit worthy but the hundreds of people murdered every year by the malicious conduct of progressive DAs have no legal recourse.

In a single county in Texas, more than 150 people have lost their lives because woke DAs refused to do their jobs. Leftists really do not give a damn about murder, they really really don't.

A robber could say that, too. The cops are supposed to just go, "oh, ok" and leave?

He broke the law that mandates he show an ID upon request.
