Police Kill Unarmed Man After Car Accident In North Carolina

This was a case of mistaken identity, as the Police man thought the guy running toward him was a criminal. The victim was in an accident, and was reported by a witness as a burglar.

When Police arrived they saw the victim running towards them in a threatening manner, later believed to be running for help, and shot him several times.

The victim may have been racially profiled by the witness, and the police officer later on before being shot, but now the officer is facing voluntary manslaughter charges.

I read the story earlier today as well. Seems like the perfect storm of calamities, with an ill-prepared and mentally incapable cop at the end.

The cop is reported to be "devastated". It would seem that he was much too quick on pulling the trigger.

If this is true, I gotta wonder why this guy continued approaching the police officer. If this is true, I couldn't blame the police officer for thinking that this guy had bad intentions.

 

Well, the guy was black! What ELSE should the police think of a young man running towards them or homeowner if a black guy is bangin on her door? Don't ALL "burglars" bang on the door first?

Ya gotta love the "news". I am going to suspect that the following description is more accurate - that an officer's taser failed to shoot at all! The poor guy had no idea he was being "brought brought down"!

So a man is making sounds like he is trying to break in you call 911 and it must be racism???

 

"Wildly knocking on the door" is NOT "breaking in" - unless the guy is black.

Of course, the woman is NOT a professional law enforcement officer, so her "conclusions" should not be the police officer's guide to reactions. The poor guy had NO Weapons, nothing but BARE HANDS, and while in Rightie World that is a "just fine" reason to blow away people of "savage natures", in the world of professional law enforcement it is a crime to do so.

The police department agrees that the shooting was a ENTIRELY UNJUSTIFIED, reckless, inappropriate and baseless use of force.

Sure, its not "racism", just another one of those "coincidences" the police so often seem to have of inappropriate force against "undesirables and savages".

 

The best way to get someone killed is to call 911. The blue gang will show up and fill the person full of hot lead and the caller gets away scot-free. Happens all the time from coast to coast and from border to border.

The cop will walk and even get a letter of commendation.

 

The black guy must have thought that he was living in a country where he would be given respect as a human being. He forgot that he was in the South and that he only has a 1% chance of making it through the day alive under the best of circumstances. So when he's banging on a white woman's door at 2:30 am and three white cops show up he's a goner.

The guy shouldn't have been out at that hour anyway. The hours between midnight and dawn are pretty much the killing hours across the country. So if a person is out at that time chances are something bad will happen to him even if he's a saint.

 

When cops panic there is something wrong with their training , since you have way too many incidents something must be done with the administration of police academies .

 

I'll bet the cop is a recent war vet who was used to shooting people in Afghanistan.

I heard the story on the news this morning. It was a total cluster. He gets into an accident and apparently is the only person in America without a cell phone, so he heads to the nearest house for help. The problem? It's the middle of the night and, yes, he's black. So, of course, the woman's first thought is that despite his knocking on the door he must be a burglar and must be trying to break-in. Because all people who break do so after first "banging on the door viciously". So she calls the police and instead of stating the facts (some dude is banging on my door) she tells them he is attempting to break in. So the cops roll up with the preconceived notion that he is criminal. They end up shooting him using the tried and true story that he started it. Luckily, they actually investigated this one, which is odd, so the cop (by some miracle) is being charged. Just bad luck, combined with a bit of racism and typical cop behavior.

 

Yes if a large white man was pounding on her door i am sure she would have invited him in for tea ~

People always say that you shouldnt take matters into your own hand when feeling threatened to just call 911 and she did just that. Now you are claiming she is racist... Make up your damn mind.

 

For someone who was not there and could not possibly have seen all the evidence you sure have it figured out.

In your infinite knowledge of the subject did the cops try to halt the black kid with a tazer before shooting him?

 

The point is that there was a chance she would have opened the door for a white man. Or at least yelled though it. The sad part is that you know that but simply want to ignore it for some reason. Granted, the black community contributes to the problem, too. But I remain right. And you know it.

Not sure how this applies to me. I never suggested she refrain from calling 911.
