I agree with the logic that says you can react to how an individual chooses to dress, act, and talk. The problem comes when you choose to generalize regarding a larger class.

if you are trying to imitate that larger group, don't be surprised if you are treated like them, even when you have done nothing wrong.

I realize, despite all my experience and education, if I want to be treated like a professional, I better dress like one.

I realize, despite all my experience and education, if I dress like a whitetrash hillbilly in a wifebeater, I will be treated like so.

I think everyone here, including you, knows that I was not talking about ALL young black men. Trying to imply that I was in nothing but an attempt to ignore the actual issue.

You and I both know that we could post hour after hour of videos on here of black folk misbehaving in truly bizarre fashion, not to mention stat after stat showing WHY they are in the place they are in.

And it's not even that the subset exists. ALL races have such a subset, it's the size of the subset of blacks who behave this way coupled with the almost surreal way their problems are excused by the vast majority that indicates a problem.

My children had, and will continue to have a curfew, if one of them is out at 2 AM causing problems, they will pay hell when they get home. Now how does the average black react if a black person gets in trouble at 2 AM? Be honest... Yeah they scream and complain that "their little angel" was mistreated. Totally ignoring the fact that little angels aren't out creeping around at 2 AM. And the entire community shares their outrage.

Nothing will change for blacks unless and until others stop excusing their behavior.

First you say you aren't talking about all blacks, then you attribute irresponsible behavior and parenting to "average" blacks. And you just don't see that you're stereotyping like crazy.

I don't see problems being excused. i see young black males being incarcerated at a ferocious rate.

Lots of luck getting still-stereotyped, still-discriminated-against blacks into the middle class, where they will adopt well-regulated middle-class behavior because they know what they have to lose, when the economic trends and capital power are driving whites out of the middle class.

Again, if they wouldn't commit crimes at a ferocious rate, they wouldn't be incarcerated at an incarcerated rate. See how that works?I don't commit crimes, so I don't go to jail.

For the most part , that is exactly right. Now , they may be over used, but they don't just appear out of thin air.
