That is based entirely on your political opinion.

Would it surprise you to learn that not every American shares your views?

Well if I remember correctly when I was that age, it was more like mimicking what I saw around me. In this case I agree the notion to stop 3 yr olds from saying best friend will not help anything.

People are attracted to others for all various reasons, why the poster goes off on a tangent about younger men is more about himself :)

Its based on my common sense

Which is based on the poor results we are seeing in the public schools

4 year olds have "best friends" for about a week at most and then get another "best friend". Looking back, it was not until I was about 7 before I could refer to someone as a "best friend" and never used that phrase to describe the relationship. Anyway, I thought the phrase used nowadays in schools is BFF and is often now used ironically.

And from the link, the mother approached the press more than a month after the event, really!

Maybe it took that long for the mom to find another subittable school.

There isn't a force more dangerous in today's society than the "everyone gets a trophy" culture.

It's more dangerous than ISIS, crack cocaine, or assault weapons. Maybe even more dangerous than ISIS soldiers high on crack carrying assault weapons.

This event does seem more about a controlling mother wanting publicity than any thoughts about her child especially if she did change schools hence separating her child from her "best friend"

I was just wondering about the thought process of someone who decided that this event was worth creating a thread about. It is so trivial

For someone who thinks that there is a Deep Doodoo Liberal Liberal state out there trying to neuter our children and turn them into mindless wimps the story is monumental. The RW Social Justice Warriors see what that stupid preschool teacher did as just another nail in the coffin our our once great country. Do not worry trump is making American great again, right? He is isn't he?
    Putin says he is!!

You're right, which is another reason why the whole "ban" is stupid.

You realise I was being silly, right? I realised half way through forming the second paragraph that it was retarded and doubled down. I like a man who can take the piss out of his own views from time to time.

Legit though I do think "everyone gets a trophy" culture is harmful. To whatever degree it raises the esteem of the low achieving it diminishes the award of those who are actually deserving.

When games aren't being scored by the umpires the kids keep score themselves. I know this because I was once a kid and all teams always knew the score when the code officially didn't support scoring. Failure is important to experience and competition is a strong instinct even in children.

The kid offended because their friend called someone else their best friend, that kid is wrong. Not the kid who called someone they consider their best friend words to that effect. Bullying is something very legitimate to stamp out, but this nonsense is way past the line.

PS: yes, this OP is really more of an example of an overarching issue. That thread would make a better one.
