Real clear politics site shows all the polls....They are all in agreement except for Rasmussen and that is all the time. That’s why it’s not credible

I totally agree. I am one of those who think Trump had the right message, but was the wrong messenger. His persona, tweets, his political unsavvyness, his egotistical, foul big mouth, his constant need to create feuds has turned off most Americans. Even ones who support most of his policies and initiatives.

I realize his uncouth, unpolitical correct behavior is loved by his base. But I think his base is no more than around 35% of all America. Then you add on top of that those who support Trump's policies, are disgusted with his personality, but are willing to put up with his persona and you get an approval rating of around 42%.

The question is how high would Trump's approval rating be if you could add to his column those who support his policies, but can't stand the man's persona, both mouth and tweets. Who like what he is doing but can't stand him personally. I think if those folks actually liked Trump instead of disliking him personally, Trump might be up around 50% or even in the low 50's.

It's not Trump's policies that is keeping him mired around 40%, it is him personally, his behavior, his mouth, his tweets, his constant creating of needless feuds, his personality. My opinion anyway.

I am not POTUS. I hold our elected officials to a higher standard because I AM THEIR EMPLOYER.

100%, it's his personality. He's a consummate troll. I said before to another poster in this thread, I insult people - but I'm not POTUS, and as my employee, I don't support him because of the way he acts.

He's used to saying "You're fired" but the American people in GENERAL are saying "You're on warning."

Stick to the ******ned policy initiative. A good friend of mine who is married to a rabid feminist and a SJW progressive, but thankfully is more moderate himself like me, said something very telling. Republicans can win elections, because they're good at beating the single issue voter into submission. They can't lead once they win.

I think that's pretty true, as Rand Paul's blistering statements on Republican hypocrisy clearly show.

The only poll which is accurate is the one conducted on election day.

So why hold yourself to such low standards and expect better of others?

So only the president should have standards of conduct?

I don't think most republicans expected to win. Just Trump and his faithful.

Nope. Any elected official who speaks publicly ought to be held to a higher standard then a private citizen communicating privately.

I don't want to be president of anything. I think constructs that require a "president" are entirely too.... conformative.

I have to disagree, Trump really had no chance to be a fantastic president due to his narcissism, petulance, immaturity, insecurity, total lack of empathy, boorishness, selfishness, ignorance, hypocrisy, and buffoonery.

He couldn't make the turn from election to transition to being in office, if anything he's worse due to the high stakes involved - and it did not surprise me - it's Trump. And without that 78,000 vote margin in 3 states, he doesn't win - it was that close.......I'm actually surprised his poll numbers are around 40% (in a compilation poll).

Why would you expect higher standards for elected officials than you would expect for yourself though?

Because I don't have mass interaction with every facet of the public. I don't create public policy and have to sell it, that's why.

I see you only cherry pick the most positive polls from the most positive polling organization you can find. Rammussen have been proven to heavily over-rate GOP politicians and has only a C+ rating for accuracy. When you take an average of different right-wing and left-wing polling organizations Trump really is at 41.8% which is a rise from a low of 37% a few months ago and his average he tends to trend around which is about 39%. Its unknown whether this 41.8% approval is just a temporary peak like previously or whether he will sustain it. Obama's average approval at the same time was 48.2%.

And you can safely add at least 15 points due to the way these polls are a majority of democrat participants.

Only the LAT/USC daily tracker was more accurate than Rasmussen during the last presidential election.

Funny that the left wants to criticize Rasmussen , while simultaneously forgetting that all of there "preferred" pollsters where dead wrong about the Clinton and Trump election.

I don't think any of you have any room to criticize any other poll after that nonsense.
