Reminds me of the battleship Yamato. The whole conceot is that since she had a range so long, she would have to launch recon planes before engaging any enemy. Why? The curve of the earth makes it impossible for her to obtain a direct line of sight.

Well, technically it has been proven. You are questioning the validity of the source, but in actuality you are the accuser so you need to prove they are wrong. But since asked so nicely, here's my response:

If you stand on the seashore and watch a ship sailing away, it will gradually disappear from view. But the reason cannot be the distance: if a hill or tower are nearby, and you climb to the top after the ship has completely disappeared, it becomes visible again. Furthermore, if on the shore you watch carefully the way the ship disappears from view, you will notice that the hull vanishes first, while the masts and sails (or the bridge and smokestack) disappear last. It is as if the ship was dropping behind a hill, which in a way is exactly the case, the "hill" being the curve of the Earth's surface.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Yes, that must be it.

Except the OP was your opinion, you didn't provide any evidence to back up your claim.

Actually it won't. If a ship disappears from sight due to the curvature of the Earth, a telescope won't help see it from the same height as the ship is no longer in the telescopes line of sight; they can neither see around objects such as Earth or through the Earth.

    By who?

Nor does his love of science fiction nullify his work in the scientific community.

    You should stop thinking then.

I'm not saying that Universities are 100% perfect or unbiased, but you are like the boy who cried wolf. You call every little thing a conspiracy so no one takes you serious. You are just a joke to us without an ounce of credibility.

Plus, wouldn't time zones be pointless with a flat earth?

You can calculate the curvature of the earth by doing a line of sight calculation yourself very accurately.

The fact that the earth is round has been known for thousands of years, due to observation and studying lunar eclipses, first person to really prove it was Ferdinand Magellan.

There, not a mention one of NASA in your silly assed post.

The fact that you can sail across the world without falling off or fly across the world without ending up in space makes such a novel concept fairly obvious.

    He did a television interview.

I watched Byrd tell the host about a stretch of land the size of North America BEYOND what he laughingly refers to as the south pole. He states that after several days he literally saw the barrier stretching into the sky.

Out if his mouth, directly. Look for it on YouTube.

Oh yes, they very much would, and do.

    And they thrive.

how come when I look out at the Atlantic Ocean, I cannot see Spain?

    or Ireland.

when I was in California, I looked out at the Pacific Ocean.

Japan was nowhere to be found.

    why?

(Without using any NASA related materials)

    So... Yeah.

    - - - Updated - - -

The horizon is always visible. And its a always at eye level, regardless of altitude.

    The earth is flat.

Magellan might not have actually existed, BTW.

Also, the tech wasn't around to validate those old claims.

Tech we have now exclusively proves the earth is flat.

If you've seen the real flat earth model, you'll know that the time zones question you raise is absurd.

No familiar with geometry, are you? Why do you think you see the tops of sailboats sails before you can see the sailboat.

    Because they're too far away.

Put a golf ball on the ground and walk 4 blocks away. It will "disappear".

Look through a powerful enough telescope, and voila, there it is.

if I look through a telescope east from the atlantic ocean, I will not see Europe.

    not ever.

    - - - Updated - - -

if I look through a telescope southeast from the Atlantic Ocean, I will never see Africa.

not ever. It will never happen.

    I bet $1 million.
