Maybe I hold the VP in higher regard then I actually should. Gone are the days of Eisenhower/Nixon and Nixon/Bush(IE: America did have something of a line of succession in future elections where a successful President's VP was more than qualified to be the President.)

Even Al Gore was a successful POTUS candidate(Clinton's VP) and Biden of course was Obama's VP.

Wanna know what Harris lacks compared to these generations of Vice Presidents? Political capital, experience and any sort of talent to the office. Someone like her as VP means that this country and nation no longer appoints its best people(and yes, Trump failed at that too)

we appoint, not even the most popular people but more like the "media recognized people", or the people we think 'deserve' to be there because their face on a wall on a poster is very pleasing to look at.

It was Reagan-Bush, and I wouldn't be bragging about Nixon. I don't hold VP's in any particular regard. I judge them individually, though I agree with the tradition, which we still practice. As far as Harris goes, it's too early to judge, for me anyway.

Reversed Trump's EO's, accelerated vaccinations, appointed professionals, passed landmark legislation. Not bad for 50 days.

I still hold her hyperbole against her. The hyperbole about the vaccine that's led to trust issues surrounding it. That was utterly unnecessary for the elections, and damaged America. You think I trust her with the keys? No, I really don't(and thus, didn't vote for the ticket) but obviously it's out of my hands as I'm neither an insurrectionist nor an idiot. 2022/2024 is our chance to correct bad leadership.

Also the hyperbole on the "hate crimes" rising despite the FBI explaining that the 'rise' was an increased incidence of reporting. The hyperbole which leads to the division, which leads to tragic and foolish events like the Capitol riots happening is unnecessary and its unpresidential.

If people hold Trump accountable for his words' and that his actions are unacceptable for a President, then I as a citizen have to do my part to ensure there isn't a Trump successor. No matter which party it comes from.

Rasmussen has always had a right-wing bias.
The important thing is, 81 million Americans voted for Biden.

Isn't it fascinating how quickly certain poeple start screaming about 'qualifications' and 'meritocracy' when someone other than a white guy gets the job.

Even more remarkable that anyone could talk about a 'meritocratic past' when discussing an office that has seen the likes of Dan Quayle, Dick Cheney, Walter Mondale, Spiro Agnew & a list of mediocre political hacks even most historians can't remember. But somehow a person who has been Attorney General of a state larger than most nations and a US Senator is 'unqualified' because she is the first woman and second non-white to hold the office.

The extent to which people are hardwired to see white man as 'qualified' or 'meritocratic' really is staggering. That is one deeply ingrained prejudice.

It no longer matters. trump did something amazing, that I didn’t think was possible — he made younger groups get engaged. He showed the country, the world, what right wing cultism brings. Assault on on democracy, pieces of filth smearing feces on our Capitol building, destruction of our norms and our institutions all while marching around the flag — not of the US but of the cult leader. Hopefully that is a lesson none of us forget.

What has become of the now trumplican party is a plague on this nation. One that needs to be cured.

That is the point. Apparently, the best the parties could offer the USA and the Planet was a geriatric and a Caligulan. You have a problem, 'Houston.'

Is that your WORST NIGHTMARE scenario, Cy?

Having a WOMAN of COLOR running our nation for 10 years?

Do you have any idea at all as to what that says about yourself?

Just on her QUALIFICATIONS alone she is way ahead of where YOUR biggest *LOSER* ever was.

What is it about her MODERATE political positions that are so SCARY?

Or is just because SHE is NOT a man that you are having a problem coming to grips with?

Since YOU started this thread you might as well spill your guts and let it all hang out.

Tell us about waking up in a COLD SWEAT at the mere idea that hardworking Americans will be provided with LIVING WAGES and BENEFISTS?

Tell us about how it makes you SHUDDER to imagine that EVERYONE will have HEALTHCARE that does NOT cost them an arm and leg?

Tell us about how you HATE the idea of seeing a DIVERSE community of Americans working and living happily alongside each other?

Why are ALL of those POSITIVE changes so FRIGHTENING, Cy?

    :roflol:

Isn't that EXACTLY what Biden was in 2008?

Someone with NO shot at the nomination who became the VP only BECAUSE he was going to be the TOKEN white guy on the ticket?

Do you think we'll have another Republican President any time in the near future? (Like the next 20 years)

Yes, I do, but they will NOT be a member of the current Q-GOP.

In essence the Q-GOP has had multiple warnings that they were headed in the WRONG direction and IGNORED them all which has resulted in the current shambles of a party RIDDLED with whackadoodles trying to VIOLATE the CONSTITUTION by taking away the RIGHTS of women and minority voters.

That has to be CLEANED out from the BOTTOM up and that means a major REVAMP of the entire party.

That will take a willingness to embrace change but it will happen.

The timeframe will depend upon just how STUBBORN the entrenched Q-GOP is when it comes to embracing the necessary REMEDIATION.

No, but I don't expect you to understand the nuance.

Its really simple. Stop judging people who aren't white men by a different standard and you won't get called out on it. Stop assuming 'merit' and 'qualification' based on gender and ethnicity and there won't be an issue.

You won't, of course. Too many years assuming anyone who isn't a white guy is a 'diversity hire' because its easier than treating them as equals or....gulp....betters. Easier to fall back on lazy prejudices than bother questioning them. Easier to play victim when you get called out for it.

    Or cares.

Until the USA wants us to hold its hand when it goes to War. It seems very dependant on Australia like that. We know it is not, but the USA likes to see our Diggers there for at least image purposes, if not because we are pretty nifty and militarily adept you know.
