Although this does not directly answer your question, here's something about it https://www.cancer.org/latest-news/world-health-organization-says-processed-meat-causes-cancer.html
That may be so, however, the source that I quoted feels that the consumption of red meat is directly linked as a cause of cancer.
I've been on what is essentially the Atkins diet for 6.5 years. I lost 70 pounds and have not gained it back. I also regained my health and in some ways am healther than I've ever been. I've also added about 30 pounds of muscle [best guess] The first mistake is treating it like a diet. Diets don't work. Lifestyle changes do work. The notion that the diet as a lifestyle doesn't work is total nonsense. It saved my life and I'm generally the fittest guy in any room All of the people who told me I was crazy when I started this diet are still fatties.
It is also noteworthy that ketogenic diets are anti-cancer. Hi-carb diets provide the perfect environment for cancers to grow and spread. But ketogenic diets inhibit cancers by limiting the glucose supply. Additionally, ketones are toxic to tumors. And insulin [high carb diets] is needed for cancers to spread. Ketogenic diets are now being used to supplement cancer treatments.
A life...which is a roll of the dice anyway, sans red meat at all. Or, maybe, possibly, potentially, a slightly shorter life enjoying burgers, steak, and the holiday roast beef, and slow cooking your cut of choice during the summer.... Think that I will keep supporting the ranchers, haulers, butchers (who need considerably more appreciation in general), and keep red meat in the dietary mix.
Well, that's your choice. My father was a strong healthy man until cancer struck him down. It was very sad to see him reduced to the state that even though given strong pain killers, tears rolled down his cheeks from the pain. It was very sad.
Truthfully, I don't know. My point is that cancer is not something that is nice. IF IT IS TRUE that red meat contributes to it, I think that is something that people should seriously consider.
lol You must live a happy fun life with hope and be on your way to achieving your goals. Just don't force everyone to abide by your personal standards. Most of us can't afford it, even if we wanted.
First of all the point is not whether or not humans can survive without meat, rather the point is that there are some sources that feel that the consumption of meat can cause fatal disease. That said, humans can survive without a diet that includes meat.
Depends on how you define red meat. If you include processed meats, you are probably right. If you are just talking about beef (not heavily processed) you are probably wrong.
Well, you need fat along with protein. Also, Atkins dieters are supposed to start adding carbs slowly. It should never be a no-carb diet, and Atkins diet should include a lot of vegetables.
They survived on a combination of foods. Of course, meat was part of it. So were vegetables, fruits and nuts.
Sure you have. When a young person dies suddenly, a heart attack often gets the blame. But a study of 126 sudden deaths in American military recruits age 18 to 35 tells a different story. Only about half of these tragic deaths were due to any type of heart disease, and of these, only 28% had coronary atherosclerosis. That's still a shocking prevalence in this young population, but it's overshadowed by other types of heart disease, including inborn abnormalities of the coronary artery anatomy (33%), inflammation of the heart muscle (20%), and structural abnormalities of the heart muscle (13%). A variety of other cardiac abnormalities accounted for a few additional cases. Other studies from around the world report similar findings. Scientists presume that silent, undetected disorders of the heart's pumping rhythm account for many of the sudden deaths in patients with structurally normal hearts. Other causes include drug abuse, blood clots that travel to the lungs, and brain hemorrhages. https://www.health.harvard.edu/heart-health/premature-heart-disease
Wrong. The chemicals and medications given to farm animals contain carcinogens, since wild game is proven healthier. Excessive hormones administered to cattle is present in milk and affects childrens growth and development as occured in Puerto Rico years ago.
It defines red meat differently than most of us do. I don't define hotdogs, etc. as red meat. To me, red meat is beef. That article said nothing about beef, but was about the danger of processed meats--like coldcuts, sausage, etc. Those probably are dangerous in excess. Red meat (i.e. beef) is not as dangerous as the processed meats, and may not even be dangerous at all (in moderate amounts).
