I'm glad that you and your girlfriend had freedom of choice. Everyone's circumstances are very personal, and the impersonal dictates of state bureaucrats are no substitute for personal freedom.
In such a personal matter, no one has the right to dictate to others, regardless of what their personal choice may be.
I was listening to an ex- anti-choicer talk on the radio and he told of why it is no longer anti-choice. He had been arrested and put into a jail cell for the night and the whole night he listened to a woman crying for her children that had been taken from her. He realised then, after hearing of this woman’s circumstances, that we cannot dictate the choices of others
Impersonal statist dictate vs a personal decision informed by an intimate awareness of one's own circumstances and prospects, in consultation with trusted medical and spiritual advisers and loved ones. The superior moral position is respected in virtually all advanced nations. The authoritarian one is imposed in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Iraq, Honduras, Laos, and a few others.
Exactly, Children aren't something we should plan on as if they were wondrous gifts and the greatest enhancement marriage and yes, even life itself, has to offer. Children are accidents, blowbys of a romantic night that we can denigrate as the major thing that has gone wrong with your life and your marriage for the next 18 years and quite possibly beyond. Don't worry that they won't know they're the main cause of several lives ruined including their own, children have a way of sensing these things and they take the undeserved guilt onto themselves quite readily. Children just love living lives of privation and want that could have easily been avoided and besides, misery is what Christianity is all about anyway. Let the greatest event of your life be a matter not even concerning you and your spouse but between you and your State Legislature, as God intended.

I am always surprised by how much we, the most advanced nation in the world, have in common with third-world shitholes where we won't even let their refugees come here. Isn't Christianity wonderful?
State-sanctioned, cold-blooded killing is another authoritarian proclivity that has largely been eradicated by advanced, enlightened societies, but festers in some retrogressive states as well as in shithole nations. Universal health care is yet another feature of progress resisted by some Americans.
I've always wondered how conservative Christians square letting the indigent die outside of the locked ER as DOCTOR Rand Paul advocates. The man doesn't even want to keep his word to Apollo, let alone America.
We were obviously too humanistic, empathetic. We both had doubts, but I think we were more mature than most of our age. Finally we came to the conclusion that it's absolutely wrong to murder our child in advance. Today I think that we made the only right decision back then. Even in difficult times there is always a way out. Btw, we never told our daughter that we might want to abort her. We'll never do that either. Could you say something like that to your child?
Because they didn't try. I'm now convinced that abortion is always the worst solution. I would never consider it an option again, neither would my wife.
Give me that old-time religion that was good enough for Augustine of Hippo, with predestination, the divine foreordaining of the salvation of some and not others. It replaces the corporal works of mercy for the chosen ones. Feed the hungry. Give drink to the thirsty. Clothe the naked. Shelter the homeless. Visit the sick. Visit the imprisoned. Bury the dead.
Every parent who has freedom of choice and is not dictated to by the State can tell their children they were wanted.
Abortion Laws by State - Center for Reproductive Rights About Us - Center for Reproductive Rights Something worth looking into,
As you can see what this country is up against have to ban abortions almost half the states here are banning abortions or most likely to do so. I just hope there isn't an amendment that will outlaw abortions permanently. Rape and incest are out and out wrong and we should know this. Imagine a child finding out that daddy raped mommy or finding out that your mommy and daddy are actually brother and sister, sounds really weird, doesn't it? There could be terms that could come back like a woman's place is in the home doing housework or in bed. There will be chaos and consequences out of all this. Businesses like Planned Parenthood have their backs to the wall along with those that support Roe v Wade. Abortions should not be banned, there aren't any good enough reasons for it. and if any of you know why Abortions should be outlawed, let's hear it. That's all I'm going to say for now.
Then are you FOR those things that actually reduce the abortion rate? paid maternity leave Free and easy access to LARCs (Long Acting Reversible Contraception) Sexual education that covers more than “abstinence only” parental counselling for BOTH partners Child support payments Free healthcare ante and post natal. Free infant health care And that is only a few. Even with all of the above Australia still has an estimated abortion rate of around 18% https://www.mja.com.au/journal/2021...ate-australia-national-hospital-morbidity-and But that could include medically necessary abortions (ectopic pregnancy, threatened miscarriage, non pregnancy related disorders etc etc ) The rate has been falling, as it has in America, due to a better availability of contraception
Oh, that perfect 20/20 hindsight... Yes, and for some that is an abortion. LOL, Of course not since IF there is a CHILD to tell it to then they weren't aborted... And I doubt others tell their kids how they regretted having them even if they did....and some people do..the whole world is not YOU.
Augie said that? I'd always heard that was John Calvin Augie said that abortion was OK since God didn't put the soul into the fetus until it was delivered (that's why it cries) at least he did until the Church Fathers caught wind of how he was making it possible for women to be something other than baby factories.
