A sad report that is little more than a sign of the times, the world's sole remaining superpower sees its society rapidly decay.

No loss. The world doesn't need a superpower.

Most americans were apalled when the SCOTUS sided with citizens united and paved the way for basically unlimited ANONYMOUS contributions. It will be interesting after this election and Americans see the price tag how Congress will react. This just might be provide the impetus to actually do something about campaign finance.

As for the US rapidly declining I think that is just whistfull thinking.

And nobody should be shocked that there are serious flaws in every democracy. The system is inherently flawed, but as churchill said, its better than any other form of government.

Add to this that insider trading for the US congress is perfectly legal and you've the "leader of the free world" perverted beyond belief.

We should no longer look to the US as an example setter, we should look to countries such as Germany, the NL and Sweden.

In Germany all political parties are tax pay funded, ONLY. The US should implement this system, it would help return democracy to the now non-democratic country.

Founding isn't the only problem , Sarkozi is in big trouble for accepting how much... 5000€ ? still you can not call France an exceptional democracy .

Kofi Annan dumping on the US about corruption? That's rich.

When it comes to corruption, even Nigeria pales compared to the UN.

Kofi wouldn't know corruption if it kicked him in the butt.

Kofi Annan has no credibility in America. His words don't resonate. He represents UN corruption.

America is a rapidly declining power. That fact is readily apparent to everyone.

All democracies commit suicide in the end. But the idea doesn't die. It becomes inchoate, only to reappear again and again in Western civilization.

    Agreed.

The UN is garbage. Any chance that a country or group has to take a slight at the US, they will.
I invite internationalists to come to America and explore what democracy is like here, just like Alexis de Tocqueville.

And yet, this financing doesn't cast a single vote in the United States.

*Laughing at the UN bleating about corruption*

But on the matter of Citizens United, the SCOTUS has been garbage really. The US could get rid of 5 things in a bid to go back to our roots:

    1) Citizens United
    2) the SCOTUS
    3) The UN
    4) Democrats
    5)Republicans

    and a bonus

    6) Honey boo boo

Bin Laden's letter has been proven wrong in almost every particular. Perhaps Abu Sina would like to elaborate on which of OBLs ravings he actually thinks are correct.

The US has definitely took a step back. Our infrastructure has declined and the military industrial complex is making sure that our ridiculously bloated military budget remains a sacred cow even as everyone screams about how we can't afford things that we had no problem paying for in the past.

Add to that the wash of cash that Citizen's United introduced heavily favoring the corporations and billionaires plus the constant push by the right to disenfranchise as many voters as possible and the declining standard of living that most Americans face... it all adds up to an explosive mix that isn't going to end well for those pushing for this corporatocracy.

Don't worry, todd. Now that "progressives" have had four years to "fundamentally transform America" we've got unemployment stuck above 8%, growth beneath 2%, an additional $5 trillion in debt, and George Soros and Big Labor are free to dump millions into the campaign coffers of socialists like Barack Obama (something progs have always been conveniently quiet about).

Maybe if Lefties didn't believe government should be all things to all people we could afford things we had no problem paying for in the past. :omg:

The only ones appalled were those listening to left wing media and had never took the time to read the decision or understand that speech is to be free and not limited by government.

It left it wide open for transparency but Congress has yet to do anything about it.

In many ways bin Laden won. In 2001 I didn't see American leftists as mortal enemies. I do now.

Your version of the country needs to die a figurative death. The only thing that matters is that your side fail completely. Nothing else is of any importance.

Way down from where it started.

Way up from where it started.

How much of that is directly attributable to Obama's administration?

So you agree that we need campaign reform?

You mean all things like chief inspector of vaginas an sexual preference?

You have nothing worry about. Fascism here is only gaining strength. Populism in all its forms will soon no longer exist.

My version of the country is based on the period after the Labor Movement, the New Deal, the New New Deal and the Great Society. Prosperity was wide-spread and lasting.

Compare that to the trickle-down economic death that right-wing policies/politics are trying to bring us to.

You can have your state-capitalist utopia. You're not conservative though, so dont pose as one. No free market paradise here.
