re: the previous assault weapons ban

If you aren't familiar enough with the United States and our history and our law and our culture then don't come here to debate it and demand everyone educate you, Google is a wonderful thing, our go to your local library.

Nope, it started with 'no taxation without representation.'

I am aware of what you refer to. I want to see the link which establishes why it was described as ineffective.

Well I think the fact they let it expire says a lot don't ya think? Either of these shooters could have had a couple of Glok 9's or .44's and some extra clips and done as much damage. The long gun looks more "intimidating" but a high calibre pistol up close.......

This is not a gun issue it's a societal issue, we have to stop these primarily young males from getting to the point of turning to such behaviors. That is NOT going to be easy. Unfortunately in my country we have had a breakdown of the family and the various Phd's citing their various studies show that that is a factor in these types of mass murders just as that is a factor in the breakdown of certain segments of our population. It's not the guns.

Well they fortunately had more there than Monty thought they would but tactically it was a total Monty screw up and set us back quite dearly. And that after he almost lost the Normandy landings for us. I know Eisenhower was in a political mess and had to give a certain command level to the Brits, wish the Brits had seen his failings and replaced him.

Sorry by NO. The war, the military conflict started at Lexington and Concord with an attempt to disarm the populace. When the British had to retreat from the field of battle it wasn't to cheers of "You'll never get our taxes" it was "you'll never get our arms". The tax issue was still negotiable.

We have guns and we have the same societal issues here. No massacres. So?

    Oh like who?

The historians I studied and history I studied 50 years ago says exactly that.

"The Revolutionary War (1775-83), also known as the American Revolution, arose from growing tensions between residents of Great Britain’s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Skirmishes between British troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence."

The British marched to Lexington and Concord to disarm the citizens not collect taxes.

Yes, the military conflict started there but the cause of the unrest was 'no taxation without representation.'

They went there not to disarm the citizenry, but to neutralise a specific arsenal.

Another misrepresentation of whAt was said. That was only
one thought, the others were family, morals, lack of religion.

I think the lack morals in this Country and movement away from the Church and Wholesomeness are the biggest reasons. Plus Lude Commercials and violent games and movies.

No you do not have the same issues we have here. Do you have a demographic in which 80% of children grow up in a home without a father?

Yes disarm the citizenry, those weapons belonged to the citizens it was not a British arsenal.
"About 700 British Army regulars in Boston, under Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith, were given secret orders to capture and destroy Colonial military supplies reportedly stored by the Massachusetts militia at Concord. "

Agree. They did not come for the citizens guns. They came to neutralise an obvious military threat.

Are you just being obtuse now? The guns belonged to the citizens, the British were trying to confiscate them. That is when the war started.

Yes we do and being a foreigner who obviously does not keep up with my country I have no obligation to educate you you can do your own research into the issues in my country. And I would highly advise you to do so if you are going to post her about my country.

Just as we judge people who believe anything that comes from Trumps mouth, or even people who entertain notions such as Video games are to blame for mass shootings. Instead of calling out industry executives and the ESA on their addictive, and predatory monetization practices by introducing gambling and bypassing regulations in certain childrens games.
