It's very simple. Money needs to go towards science an technology. Improvements in science and technology are the only way to make long term improvements in an economy. Most people don't even acknowledge this fact and argue about worthless stuff that doesn't matter like taxes and the size of government. This is the reason we are in the economic mess we are in. Not because of the percentage of taxes and the size of government.
Whose money? Why is it the job of government to attempt to improve the economy? Because you believe it so? Because not everyone see the same needs that you see. Apparently, your particular morals are not subscribed to by everyone else. So, your only options are to either seek private means to implement your vision, do it by force if you can, or just leave it alone. The reason we are in an economic mess is because people in power think it's their job to interfere in the economy.
Taxpayers' money. That is why people pay taxes. Why wouldn't it be the job of government to improve the economy? Because you believe it so? Not everyone sees the same needs I see because they are stupid and focus on things that don't matter like the amount of taxes. Your last statement just isn't true. The reason we are in economic mess is the people in power don't know what they're doing with taxpayers' money.
I disagree. No one is "in power" over the economy. The economy is each of us trading the value we have for the value we want. The reason we are in trouble is that trading is stalling out. No one has the power to demand that folks want what's offered. When everyone fails to see the things you see... you might want to proceed with caution rather than assume they're all stupid. There could be another reason.
Yes, no one is in power over the economy but technology is. A leader can pass laws to help along the development of technology. No, there is no other reason. Humans are a very stupid species. They may be more advanced than others, but overall humans are stupid. Just look at the stupid actions people do every day.
It matters a great deal to those who labor and those who produce wealth the amount of taxes. But, it's plain to see your arrogance regarding the people who produce the wealth you intend to take by force and spend as if you know better what to do with it. You cannot create wealth by spending money taken from those who produced. On net, you will always destroy more than you can create. Your interference in the economic exchanges of others will only lead to more wealth destruction and, as happens today, economy-wide recessions and depressions.
Throughout history and still today, it has been the people who do the most work get paid the least and the ones who do next to nothing get paid the most. Instead, it is just the business leaders that are taking wealth from the people who produce wealth. That is not true. You are being very subjective with your thoughts. You can create wealth by taking money from those who produced it and spending it so that it will create more wealth. No, recessions and depressions happen because people are not paying attention to what actually matters in an economy which is technology.
That's like saying the carpenter takes wealth from the hammer because it is the hammer that does the work. It is the businessman that takes the risk, that creates the vision and It is looters like you want to be that takes from those who create wealth and insist that you can spend it more wisely. Here's a thought. Go start a business, take a risk, hire people who will follow your vision. Pay them well, then use the profits to enact your vision for society by peaceful means rather than police powers. You are, after all, very wise and intelligent that you know how to direct the economic lives of hundreds of millions, so you ought to be able to be very successful in business. I am not being subjective at all. I am applying reason. When you force someone to give up his property, you are destroying wealth because what you take from him you value less than he did, or otherwise he would volunteer it. Wealth is created through the accumulation of capital, the division of labor, and free trade. Government does none of these things. You argue that by force, wealth is created. Explain how paying attention to technology leads to recessions. I'm really curious to read that one. If people are not paying attention to it, it means they have other preferences. It isn't going to make them wealthier and better off by imposing your preferences on them.
You really think employees share the same vision as their employers? I probably would be a successful businessman, but I'm not interested. Also, it is much slower and not near as influential as being a government leader. You're just spewing out lies, so I'm done until you provide an actual argument. It's not just paying attention to technology. That's not really going to get anything done. You have to put more money into research so that science can progress without having to be delayed by money problems. You also need to have a better education system so there are more and smarter people conducting this research.
