    FACT:
Romney did not mention our brave soldiers ONE TIME during the Republican COnvention. No thanks to them. NO show of empathy for the sacrifice of our heros. No. Mention. At. All!

    FACT:
Even though Romney protested in FAVOR of the Vietnam War he decided to hide out in France for almost 3 years once he became eligible to be drafted. He lived in a castle with servents while other AMericans were sent to Vietnam to risk their lives. Romney's father, who was governor of Michigan, was able to secure FOUR deferments for Romney, although ROmney is quoted as saying that he never did anything to remove himself from the pool of young men who were eligible to be drafted.

    FACT:
Mitt's father George was 34 when World War II broke out, yet saw fit to not serve his country during this war.

    FACT:
Mitt has had FIVE SONS who have been eligible to serve our country during our two wars in Iraq and our war in Afghanistan. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM has seen fit to serve our great nation.

I'd like to ask other Vietnam Vets - the heroes who had to live in the shlt day after day - I'd like to ask them how they feel about Romney getting FOUR deferments and hiding out in France, riding around smiling on his bicycle as he lived in a castle where he had servants waiting on him, while true americans put their life on the line and went through a living HELL?

And I'd like to ask Romney if he felt so strong about the war in Vietnam that he found the need to protest FOR it, then why didnt he man up and serve his country? Not only did he not serve his country, he actually had FOUR deferments to keep him out of Vietnam.
And then of course, 20 years later, Flip Flomney denies that he even ever had any deferments!

"It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam, but nor did I take any actions to remove myself from the pool of young men who were eligible for the draft."
    ~Romney 1994

"I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there, and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam."
    ~Romney 2007

Flippin' Mitt probably believes his own bull(*)(*)(*)(*) by now.

The coward Clinton went to Oxford, said he loathed the military, and had connections to lie for him.

As I understand it, Romney had proper student deferments and missionary deferments. Then, when they expired, the draft lottory came in, and he drew a high number, and did not volunteer. I was drafted in 66 and willingly served, and as a Veteran do not have as much problem with Romney as I do Clinton, and it really has nothing to do with my politics.

It does seem strange that none of Romney's sons served, but since the all volunteer service came in, it's a different world.

Does the OP really think this bunch of hyperbole and propaganda is going to convince anyone who is a military member or a member of a military service family?

    Get REAL!

Just mentioning Military with flowery words during a partisan political convention is NOT the same as ACTING as a Commander-in-Chief with integrity, respect, honor, and commitement to Military risks, goals, and sacrifices!

Standing Military members are NOT ALLOWED, for good reason to talk openly about their political opinions. But as someone who has served for years, and has children and other family members still serving, I will attest to the fact that MOST military members and their families will not be voting for President Obama.

Which is why we see these sorts of weak, poorly executed, half-baked propaganda efforts... FAIL!

The OP (namely me) thinks that Romeny is in real trouble with the military vote, which is going to matter quite a bit, especialy in swings states like Virginia and North Carolina that have large military populations. Obama who only got 12% of the military vote in '08 is polling at over 40% right now. And that is largely because the military has no respect for draft dodger Romney, espeically when he makes comments like the troops "aren't important" which he made on FOX news to Bret Bayer earlier today:

    http://bonosrama.newsvine.com/_news/...-had-said-that

Yes, this IS happening. Romney has been disrespecting our heroes for nearly 50 years now.

Ok, you have a Viet Nam Veteran here. Let me put it this way, he asked for the deferments and got them, he didn't run off to Canada and he didn't dodge the draft the way Clinton did. Clinton the Draft Dodger. There are a lot of people I wouldn't have wanted to serve with, President Obama is toward the the top of that list. From what I know about Gov Romney, I would have had no problem serving with him. So, I suggest you stop attempting to use us Veterans for making political points unless it deals directly with how that person directly effects Veterans.

Here is the actual clip of Romney saying he did not speak about our troops at the Republican National Convention because he did not think the troops were important:

    http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/09/07/813831/romney-rnc-speech-troops-important/

I think it is very weak how Romney protest in support of Vietnam and then went out of his way to avoid getting drafted to fight in Vietnam, hiding out in FRANCE, living in a castle with servents and getting FOUR deferments, while regular folks like my step-father and my neighbors were going through HELL in Vietnam. But what is even more discusting is how he later lied by saying that he did not try to avoid fighting in Vietnam and that in fact he was truly frustratated that he COULDN'T go and fight in Vietnam. This flip floping piece-of-mitt truly makes me sick!!!

So when and where did you serve? Perhaps your daddy served? Mommy? Big brother?

You know there is a reason that the military generally votes against the left. Not really for the right but definitely not left.

Yes the (R) may send troops to war and I generally disagree with that but you evidently lack an understanding of the real and important role our military plays in keeping the world peace. Guess what most of them find out and they dont need to be lacking body armor and they do not need to have funding cut so necessary upgrades are not made to the underbellies of hummers because of all the IEDs. Now most of this applies to the NG and reserve but who the hell do you think they are serving along side? Yup regular. Yeah I could imagine asking for some suppression fire and then the guy is popped and put out due to substandard equipment.

Do you get it? These guys ain't worried about welfare checks and food stamps as much as they are about staying alive, getting the job done and going home with their Johnson in tact.

Where were you? Probably like most people here; not born. Well I was alive at the end (baby) and I was adopted out because my blood father was due to ship out and he did not think he would make it back. So lets talk here; what do you know?

I think some people consider Romney to be a draft dodger.

I was born in 1970, but probably would've been drafted like my father.

I've been in the Air Force for 16 years and I've been overseas. Obama has actually visited my base a couple of times. Romney wont even give a nod of appreciation to us during the Republican National Convention! He is obviously one of those low-lifes who are the first to yell rah-rah, lets go invade Iran! Or lets go kill muslims but is the last to ever ACTUALLY put his ass on the line. He thinks singing the national anthem or putting a bumper sticker on his car makes him Patriotic. BULL SHlT!!!
He protested in FAVOR of Vietnam, but then ran off to France when he was elgible to be drafted and fight in Vietam. He got FOUR frickin deferments and now 40 years later he says how frustrated he was that he never got to go fight in Vietnam.
THis fvcker is a scumbag. If RIghties dont start opening their eyes and seeing this, then they have no one to blame but themselves!!!

Could be worse: Obama's restrictive rules of engagement that cost US casualties and prevent a successful conclusion of the wars.

My ROE recommendations: Consult General Sherman.

To all of you that are hyperventilating over Gov Romney's during the Viet Nam conflict I reference you to my post #12. I also suggest, unless you served in Viet Nam that you keep your opinions to yourself.
Oh, by the way have any of you that are complaining about Gov Romney's lack of military service ever served in the military? We are presently fighting a war, whether it is or is not a just war is not the issue, how about you going down to your local military recruiter and sign up if you really believe that military service is a prerequisite for being a loyal American Citizen. Also how about complaining about the draft dodgers who went to Canada and the draft dodging President Clinton. Oh and by the way consagainromney during my 20 years in the military we didn't need a pat on the back. We did our job and only expected a "well-done", maybe now though there are those in the military that have to have a pat on the head and be told "good boy, your a good boy". Anytime a politician uses a member of the military past or present as a political tool, I have no respect for them. However, if a ex-military member wants to bring up their service it is fine with me. In other words, if you haven't been their and walked in their boots. Shut the *****up.

His mormon mission was more important than going to fight alongside his fellow countrymen. I don't blame him. Nam had to have sucked ass.

Nonetheless, if you chose to go on a religious mission over a military one while your country was at war, you may not be the best candidate for running the military.

Also, if you are going to France to avoid fighting the war in Vietnam (even though you protested in FAVOR of that War) then you might not want to disrespect the military and the American voter by saying that you never tried to get out of Vietnam and that you actually were frustrated that you couldn't go fight.

He's destroyed al qaida. He took out bin laden. He ended the war in Iraq and is winding up the war in Afghanistan (Bush/CHeney's wars that account for 6 trillion dollars of our 16 trillion dollar deficit!). Obama was instrumental in ushering in the Arab Spring, giving aid to Lebanon and Egypt as they thwarted their evil dictators. He has implemented the drone program so that our troops are not put in harms way as often. The first lady's work with military families and vets has been unbelievable. She has been a greater friend to the military than any other previous first lady in history.
As a career military member, how can I NOT support Obama???

Im sorry, but Obama hasn't done (*)(*)(*)(*) in the war.

He may be telling others to do it, but that aint the same.

I believe that if the POTUS sends people to war, he should go with them.
