We're usually on the same page but not on this one, I'm afraid.

While I agree with you that he accepted the duties of his position with his decision to run and obtain the seat, I disagree that is mutually exclusive from his other responsibilities, including being supportive of his wife. And, this is one of the reasons that I'm non-partisan because I have no doubts that he would have been lambasted for "leading" while his was undergoing her cancer treatment.

Consider...

1. How long was her cancer treatment? I didn't read the article so was he MIA for days or weeks? Why is this an issue?

2. People get sick and hospitalized and die every day since the beginning of time. What "leading" did he neglect during the time he was being supportive of his wife? I mean, what *specifically* was the egregious oversight in his alleged dereliction of duty to his constituents?

3. Why do we get so hung up on expecting perfection from other human beings? Even if he was 100% in the wrong (and, I don't believe he is), and that rattles our collective cages, we need to re-evaluate and manage our expectations. He's human. He married another human. That human is sick. He stood by her. Non-issue.

I'm not defending him personally because I think he's an idiot, but he did not do anything wrong here.

 

So the covid spike all happened in the one day DeSantis was at her treatment ?

Because it's a personal family matter now, he did announce her cancer diagnosis a few months ago.

 

This mayor should apologize publicly if he had a shred of decency.

But many on the left simply do not have the capacity to admit to having made a mistake and actually apologize like a person with some class would do.

The daily schedule of any executive politician is posted and known. The jokes about Joe Biden calling a lid, which is the phrase for done for the day are well known and they are noting that the media is informed of when he will have no appearances.

There was no lack of communication. There was simply a lack of camera time. When you go to the opening ceremony for a new factory or go someplace to generate news about a government program or initiative, you tell the press and they show up with cameras.

DeSantis hasn't been engaged in this type of activity for nearly two weeks because.... he has been with his wife during her cancer treatment.

That cancer has also been previously reported on as well.

The Democrats simply have no morals. They have no standards. They are just trying to exploit the situation for political gain and smear.

Let's not forget the President Biden's last newsworthy appearance was him telling us all that the Federal Government isn't going to fix COVID, it's a state matter and then he went to go walk his new dog.

Crickets there. "Hiding" because you're with your wife getting cancer treatment.... great political opportunity for the Democrats.

They're disgusting.

 

So Trump was the cause of you practically accusing DeSantis of doing what you said he didn't do when Trump literally had nothing to do with this?

I, personally, think that he would be a much stronger nominee in 2024.

And, I wish his wife all the best in her battle.

Yup the early stages are easy, it those last years that take commitment and break the bank..

 

Did I say he couldn’t? Rather what I’m saying is he was put in an impossible situation and he had to make a call. Had he death with the crisis in Florida then he would have been abandoning his wife. Had he only been with his wife he would have missed out on the crisis in his state. He was put in a no win situation and he had to make a choice. So he did. For better or worse the criticism still stands.

 

I humbly suggest you take your own advice, and check your tone as well, as you have skirted the edges of the rules here several times. And there is nothign wrong with the term living rent free, as its been demonstrated our resident left of center people have had Trump living rent free in their heads.

As far as DeSantis goes, he did nothing wrong and clearly has faced unreasonable critic from leftists across the nation.
