Did I happen to mention that after that corrupt, anti-American dictator invaded Ukraine for the first time in 2014, Obama, Biden & Co. refused to sell the Ukrainians lethal arms, even though Congress gave them the green light?

Yes, but won't stop Russia, will it? Ukraine wanted to join the EU in 2014 and Russia did not want that because it mean losing partial control of Ukraine. It is one of the reasons why Ukrainians revolted. They don't want to be dictated to by Moscow anymore.

 

Sanctions will still be in place, Russia would have lost tens of thousands of men in that effort, and we would start financing the resistance movements through clandestine means.

Yes, those countries being in NATO absolutely means that it stops Russia. Russia is a very much weaker country than the Soviet Union was. Given the troubles they've had in Ukraine, I'm not sure how someone could take seriously the idea of NATO going up against NATO (or, the US with a couple of pals). It just doesn't make sense.

 

I wish I wasn't seeing the same spinelessness I've seen out of Biden that I saw out of Obama, but since we're talking about the same bunch of invertebrates, the same spinelessness is all I've ever expected out of them.

We weren't at war in Vietnam in the 1950's. An sentiment wise, that is pretty much how we got into Vietnam.

Actually, we were. Why do you think we were there to begin with, especially with clandestine operations and the Viet Kong targeting American personnel then? We just kept it under the radar for most of that time, but we were at war against North Vietnam and its allies.

We were involved early on with special forces / advisors and air force, but got 'deep' only in 1965 when we sent the 3 500 Marines to protect the airfields in Da Nang. That opened the flood-gates for many more, - to over half a million in -68. It was nuts. So, helping Ukraine with arms does not compare in any way shape of form. Russia, in the other hand, was openly supplying N Vietnam with high tech weapons like anti-aircraft missiles, which is pretty much what we are doing now.
