Not at all. It is an obvious signal to our western partners. We have been waiting for negotiating the problems for years and it was only getting worse. So now we have found a solution for the problems on our own. It's basically up to West to start negotiating. If they don't - it's their choice.

Total news to me. Gives me something to check into. Denies the laws of physics i am aware of.

Trump might catch up to Obama. But Obama's lies were approved by his voters and the media. Most at any rate.

It should be news. Fake news. My first post was the only one that was worth a dime.

That is an exaggeration. The new missiles have a nuclear power drive. It gives an enormous amount of energy, speed and saves space making a rocket cleverer and able to maneuver. The key thing is nuclear power. So once you start checking laws of physics start with the weight of different type fuels and the amount of energy possible to retrieve from the burn. Calculate how many cylinders it is needed for the car engine to speed the car to the first cosmic speed and then compare it with nuclear fuel.

A dime? You must be right. There could be people who would be ready to pay it. But not me. :)

Well, normally nuclear power is not instant. Except for explosions. But why explode a rocket to drive one? As to the rest, over a very long time, I have studied things like auto power engines and fuels and a lot more.

Nuclear used for most things simply heats water into steam. Steam does the work.

There are much more principles to get the drive from nuclear fission (if that is used in a new rocket) than heating water. Water is being heated for safety reasons. Safety matters at NPPs located close to industrial and populated centers, but this choice is hardly acceptable for a nuclear rocket. Nuke and safety are things that don't go together.
As for the rest the more knowledge you have - the easier it will be to calculate. So how many cylinders (take the most efficient engines if you like) are needed to get to Mach3 or Mach5 speed? (the rocket is flying at Mach20). Give a rough estimation.

Gorbachev and his team are fools. They didn't even sign a written agreement. Although any agreement with the United States, it is better to write on toilet paper.

You know, as I was growing up I believed that the world was becoming more civilized by the day. It was in the 1960's when I realized what a lying nest of crooks Washington was but I figured it was just a few bad apples that managed to weasel themselves into "temporary" positions (you know, 1 or 2 terms in office) but that it would all be cleared up and back on track to bigger and greater levels of Democracy ... the real stuff! How wrong I was. What is happening today must certainly be on the same level as the days of Ghengis Khan. Lying, cheating, thieving b'stards! Save a few squares of that toilet paper for better things than signing agreements with the US. Let's all purchase the extra soft product. We can give our bum a pleasant wipe after each time we get screwed by Washington.

It really is amusing to watch Vlad do the big self pity/bluster that pretty much defines Russia and then see who scurries. The Russian trolls & their useful idiot friends proclaim Russia's greatness & its victimhood in equal measure. The Obama haters make their usual vacuous contribution and the rest of us just roll our eyes.

We've seen this all before from Vlad, Russia & a dozen other tinpot dictators. I guess when you have a third world life expectancy & a history of poor government virtually unmatched in Europe (maybe Albania is worse) bluster & self pity are all you really have left.

I don't see how it changes anything. Who assumed a nuclear superpower could be fully intercepted. With earlier tech it was just a matter of hundreds or thousands of nukes overwhelming any defenses. Technology like this would mostly make emerging nuclear powers with few nukes more dangerous.

And by Russian development I assume he means territorial expansion.

I heard it all in the 80s referring to the USSR... Only a slight difference in propaganda rhetorics with just the same complete inability to comprehend the reality. Fortunately these idiots were quite good-natured to stay motivated to avert huge civil wars. I am not sure that your elite will be as good-natured as soviet... What a pity... The US used to be a great project.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Your expression is very poor.

Last time I checked the USSR collapsed at the end of the 80s & began its transition from a poorly run nation with a big military and a big empire to a really, really poorly run (and smaller) nation with a much smaller military and a shrinking empire. So, maybe some of that 'propaganda' was correct.

Oh, and I'm not American, just someone who knows the difference between a flawed by incredibly successful 'project' and one that has been criminally mismanaged from its inception many, many centuries ago. Russians appear to have become so conditioned to abysmally poor government that they take some sort of perverse pride in it. They certainly show few signs of wanting to improve it.

    1. The US had a technology which in theory was capable to intercept Russian nukes. Aegis and SM-3 (SM-5) were able to locate the rockets and to intercept it on a distance from the surface to space. The anti-missile rocket speed is 3-5 mach. The only problem was the size of Russian territory. If American rockets started from the US mainland it would have done no harm to rockets. But if they started from eastern Europe - they could hit and destroy most ground based rockets. The fleet would be capable to intercept the bombers and subs. This is trickier but such subs as Kursk could be downed which was sort of proved.
This is exactly why the US government tried to expand NATO. There was zero threat to these countries from Russia and there is no use in them for the US. But using their territory for a deadly strike was an essential part of the plan which lasted for decades.
    2. Yesterday. After years of action and losses (financial and reputational) the Pentagon learnt that their anti-missile rockets won't be able to catch new Russian missiles (10 times faster) and locate new underwater strategic systems. This changes years of their lives, tons of secret paperwork and billions USD... It crushes the whole policy, because it got obvious that Russians won't give up for nuclear blackmail and the negotiations have to be renewed.
    3. Territory is not something which Russia really lacks. Technology is. Putin told about technology breakthrough yesterday. And that is quite an achievement. Especially if you compare it to the US, which stifled with stealth, supersonic and precision weapons for almost half a century with the really new projects like Zumwalt and F-35 which hardly works.

It lied all over. The soviets were sure that americans want peace and the only thing that interferes with peace and freedom is soviet anti-capitalist ideology. Former USSR republics gave up their ideology (which I don't like) to learn that all the American attitude about them was just the same as hitler's. You want us dead and if possible - in tortures, refusing us of being humans and deserving a human-like attitude. It was a sad discovery and we needed to react as we always have done in our history.

You lost, man. You won't deceive us ever again.

We are constantly improving our state if you compare it with the 90s. But we still have lots problems even being more efficient than western states. Having no source of cheap money we develop faster and in the direction which we understand. You are proud of having born (or joining) society with lots of problems which you don't have the courage and wit to face. This is the main reason for western decline.

I am really afraid that in 50 years the historians will start 'the European age' of world history with crusades and finish it with a flop of 21 century. Overall they will tell of dirt, incapability, in-born inability, rudeness, stupidity, aggressiveness in the world enslaving. I am afraid not for Europeans but for the coming world... The people certainly have the reason to forget about great ideals and to memorize the dirtiest and the bloodiest pages of humanity so far. They have every right to use the word 'western european' in a sense which the word 'asian' is still (but less than before) used now. But in this case the new world will be nothing better than modern one. And it will also be doomed for the same fate.

    I'm tired of Australian trolls...
Life expectancy in Russia grows for the last decades - exactly under Putin's ruling. And the rate of the growth is one of the highest in the world.
Western-loved Yeltsin left Russia with the shameful figure 65 years, even though in 1991 it was 69, and only after Putin came to power this index started to grow. Today it's 73 years and keeps growing.

You are rambling incoherently.....or perhaps this is coherence for you.

There are few things any of us can say with certainty about the world 50 years from now. One that is a near certain bet is that Russia will still be close to the worst governed nation in Europe. That has been a constant since Russia came into existence.

I'm even more tired of Russian trolls, especially ones pushing the same tired lies & excuses.

You have magically added a couple of years to your life expectancy. Hardly surprising given how abysmal it is. Pretty sad when things are so bad that one of the country's propaganda organs is actually proud that the life expectancy is 71 years.....according to the Russian government, of course. Hardly a reliable source.

I mean, gosh, what a remarkable achievement. You have almost caught up to Bangladesh! If things keep improving at that pace you'll pass the Dominican Republic & Morocco in a few years. Of course, that will still leave you behind virtually the entire Western hemisphere, most of Arab world (the bits that aren't at war, anyway) and most of Asia.

But hey, there is still sub-Saharan Africa to look down on. So, yeah, something to be proud of there.

You really should have a look at some of the nations that are ahead of you on life expectancy before you start boasting about anything. You are basically a banana republic with a lot of snow & a lot of nukes. The pathetic thing is that you seem so much more obsessed with being 'important' than with being functional. Explains so much.
