    Those numbers are nonsense....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_carriers_in_service

You are counting the Obsolete and Amphibious ships as carriers...we have 10 real carriers in commission and 3 under construction due to replace ancient active carriers...

Russians didn't celebrate "reunification" with Crimea. Only Crimeans did. And after the year in Russia even they didn't celebrate the first anniversary. I'm not talking about a theatrics staged by government officials. I'm talking about the real celebration by the real people.

By "ancient" I am sure you mean those 56 de-comissioned ones from WW II and Korean War eras (essex class, lexington class, independance class, midway class, forrestal class, etc); but as you saw with the Missouri and Wisconsin during Desert Storm; they work perfectly and are better than anything else the enemy has. Just put them as part of a fleet that has a modern supercarrier and it should be quite safe. Especially Forestal Class. Seems to me there is nothing really wrong with the Forestal, Saratoga, Kitty Hawk, Ranger, Constellation, etc.

You couldn't use this in a war?

Nothing like the corporate news services now is there? How about this from Moon of Alabama:

European Union sanctions against Russia are up for renewal. To prevent them from being lifted some additional NATO propaganda hyping the Russia threat and warning of an imminent invasion of Ukraine is necessary.

Reuters is always willing to be helpful with this. Consider its record of uncritical Exclusive News on the topic:

Who, the million Ukrainian refugees, or the six thousand who apply for work visas in Moscow each day from the Caucasus and Central Asian States.

Flipping is a lie you know?

Sorry but anyone who is not aware the Russians have invaded the Ukraine in strength is either delusional or on the Russian payroll...Russian activity is not a matter of silliness like 'corporate media' but instead about boots on the ground.

Moscow and Moscow Oblast are more than 20 million of people. How many people are standing there watching this announced beforehand free spectacular show? And many of those people as usually were driven to the place by free buses. I live in the much smaller town of Saint-Petersburg but even here when it's Victory day or the end of studying year there is OCEAN of people everywhere on the streets.

But I admit that Crimeans were celebrating very strongly. It was not just in one place with the help of government. It was everywhere and it was coming from the people themselves.

You might be able to say Money isn't everything....but try living without it!!

And just to add.....the U.N. Poverty Commission reports that without the MASSIVE amount of U.S. Food and Medical AID nevermind the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS worth of AMERICAN PRIVATE CITIZEN AND NON-PROFIT AID in the form of say.....MILLIONS OF MOSQUITO NETS donated by Private U.S. Companies....are responsible for keeping alive over 1 BILLION PEOPLE A YEAR AROUND THE GLOBE!!

No other Nation comes even CLOSE to the amount of AID given freely to thse in need compared to the United States.

Yes we are very altruistic feeding people who cannot feed themselves because they cannot economically compete with the US dumping excess food production onto those foreign countries as aid killing any chance for these people to have an agricultural revolution, let alone an industrial or technological one, all while being very free-market right up until the point that the US companies are unable to exploit foreign resources at a price-point that is acceptable so we topple their governments or force our corporate access to those resources as part of aid programs. The reality is that it is far more complicated than your post presents. A lot of people doing good does not wash away the sins of those in the US who arenot in it for anything other than more money.

You really have no understanding of the issue.

Africa is where the main body of U.S. AID is sent and as Warlords grab up as much U.S. Aid as they steal it from distribution centers only to SELL IT back to starving people.....as well the Mosquito Net's donated by Bill Gates and Apple prevent Millions of People from dying from various diseases.

You think that it would be a GOOD THING for the U.S. to simply stop all Food Aid?

Are you prepared for close to a Billion Deaths on your conscience??

    Unreal.

More they mass forces near the borderline, more they increase the density of targets for an eventual NATO long range preventive strike ...

I have already suggested, in a different thread, to Russian generals not to do that.

I have no doubt that Russia's apologists--and America's haters (who are often synonymous)--will come up with some innocent-sounding explanation for this. Such as, for instance, that Ukraine was once a part of Russia; therefore, Russia was merely exercising its sovereignty...

The number one recipient of US foreign aid is another country's warlord--Israel, followed by Afghanistan, followed by Pakistan, followed by Iraq.....which ones of those are in Africa again? You want to pin angel wings on with dirty hands--how generous of us to fund warlords. Their victims are so much better off with us giving them power over the people. I mean the afghans were doing okay with that whole opium thing until we invaded them and said "No more opium. Rent a hoe and a shovel from a warlord and plant yourself a quarter acre of corn instead." Our aid to Egypt is so they will not keep our warships from traveling through the Suez to go fight yet another oil company war.

    That's Monetary and Military Aid.

As far as Food and Medical Aid....Africa tops the list.

That’s quiet the HORN you're blowing there Alphie -
Can you play a tune or do you just blare out DOD Pentagon Poop Jazz ?

Fact is (using exceptional English coined by one of your recent Presidents)
“I think we may have overly misunderestimated the problem”
.................................................................US Carriers will simply be overwhelmed:

    ---------------------------------------------------

US Aircraft Carriers Would Last 2-3 Days Against Soviet Navy At Sea.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukz1VbvwKgg

Sen. Robert Taft Jr., R-Ohio, asked Admiral Hyman Rickover how long he thought the
U.S. aircraft carriers would last in the war with the Soviet navy, which was largely a
submarine navy. Rickover's answer, on the record in a hearing of the Armed Services
Committee of the U.S. Senate, was, "About two days."
    -
    ---------------------------------------------------

Even your allies Routinely Defeat Them in Exercise

During NATO exercises, US Carrier Groups have shown themselves to be like
a Rubber Duckies with targets painted on them, bobbing about in a hostile Bathtub

While Canadian submarines have routinely taken on U.S. Navy carriers, other small
navies have enjoyed similar victories. The Royal Netherlands Navy, with its small force
of extremely quiet diesel submarines, has made the U.S. Navy eat the proverbial slice of
humble pie on more than one occasion. Naval analyst Norman Polmar wrote in Naval
Forces that during NATO s exercise Northern Star, the Dutch submarine Zwaardvis was
the only orange (enemy) submarine to successfully stalk and sink a blue (allied) aircraft
carrier Ten years later there were reports that the Dutch submarine Walrus had been even
more successful in the exercise JTFEX/TMDI99.

During this exercise the Walrus penetrates the U.S. screen and sinks many ships,
including the U.S. aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71. The submarine launches
two attacks and manages to sneak away. To celebrate the sinking the crew designed a
special T- shirt. Fittingly, the T-shirt depicted the USS Theodore Roosevelt impaled on
the tusks of a walrus. It was also reported that the Walrus also sank many of the
Roosevelt's escorts, including the nuclear submarine USS Boise, a cruiser, several
destroyers and frigates, plus the command ship USS Mount Whitney. The Walrus herself
survived the exercise with no damage.

Not to be outdone by the Canadians and Dutch, the Australian submarine force has also
scored many goals against U.S. Navy carriers and nuclear submarines. On September 24
2003, the Australian newspaper The Age disclosed that Australia's Collins class diesel
submarines had taught the U.S. Navy a few lessons during multinational exercises. By the
end of the exercises, Australian submarines had destroyed two U.S. Navy nuclear attack
submarines and an aircraft carrier. According to the article: The Americans were wide-
eyed, Commodore Deeks (Commander of the RAN Submarine Group) said. They
realized that another navies knows how to operate submarines

When we have war games against our allies it is obvious that when a Carrier Battle Group is working with all capabilities it is not possible for even our allies to defeat it.

Thus we handicap the matches and do not use capabilities our allies do not have.

If you think there is any Navy on Earth capable of defeating even a single U.S. Carrier Battle Group YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND!!
