Well, we paid $5 billion for Ukraine, so what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

So you would have no problem with China and Russia having a similar doctrine for Eurasia, then. Being a principled person such as yourself.

Given my Separate Powers Doctrine, I wouldn't mind that at all no. That also allows me to heighten Japan as the ruler of the Asian Sphere(Controversially, I would've aligned with Imperial Japan and tried to talk them away from the AXIS in WW2.). To me, Japan-US will always protect and enrich the Pacific and the Western-Asian countries within our spheres of influence.

The mercs didn't make anyone change any votes. That was done by the hackers and nobody knew about it. Or at least nobody alive, the mercs were there to kill anybody that found out.

Good to hear; maybe there's some slim hope for our massively corrupt monoparty system. :)

You mean they spent $5 billion destabilising Ukraine and stirring dissent

btw that's not buying a country... or "protecting your investment"

Dude, if China and Russia announced such a doctrine, Japan would assume the position of second-teir country, which it already is, only with a western orientation now, just as South Korea currently is.

Exactomundo!! Buy a revolution and you own it. What is happening in Venezuela is taken from the same playbook.

nope sorry... until you've had a successful revolution you've got nothing but a big fat spoon stirring the pot. As opposed to investing in business and protecting those investments when an outside power destabilises the country and threatens that investment.

BTW personally I don't approve of either methods being justification for interference with a sovereign country....

Yeah, I agree, but That's how we roll. China and Russia, on the other hand, are looking to protect their investments in Venezuela. Will be interesting to see to what degree they can influence events so far from their shores.

I have no doubt, however, that both are taking asymmetrical steps in addition to whatever direct response in Venezuela they may have.

All they have to do is create a mess... I believe Venezuelans are already the largest group of refugees on the move in South America, Pelosi may well change her mind about a wall when the dust clears in Venezuela.....
Besides wars are going Private.... Venezuela has plenty of oil to pay for PMC's... they just need to fix up their run down oil industry and viola...cash cow

Don't be surprised if Brazil and Colombia want to make a move on Maduro. They aren't intimidated by any Cuban Secret Security.

As one of the leading Western economies, Japan would do just fine. Also, PS to Jeanette: No, I'm not. I'm an American, born in America who feels specially aligned with Japan(for my own various reasons.) I think Japan is our true special relationship.

I don't know about Columbia, but it would be pretty risky for Brazil. I can see wars breaking out all over which should make some people in Washington quite happy.

That would be a huge mistake... it would drag the region into conflict... these things can drag on for decades and America would have to police 3 countries, there's no wall that will stop the refugees heading north and it will cost America billions

You need to read the list of South American Countries that stand against Maduro. Doesn't look like Venezuela has to many friends in the region.
