And in the modern era who cares about the English speaking ability of people who came here in the past? We are no longer importing labor for the industrial revolution or Scandinavians to settle Northern Minnesota, etc. The Native Americans failed to stop an immigrant invasion and look how they ended up. The swarm of illegals coming into this country is an invasion. In the modern era, as a taxpayer, I don't want people coming here for free stuff and I don't want to support the cost of multilingual schools, translators for illegals that are arrested, etc.
