    I actually bought my first Browning O/U (not on Christmas) with saving bonds my Grandparents had given me ON Christmas.
    Oh well. As long as people are saving enough for retirement and the kids education ...

    December is also the starting of deer season in many states. I for one bought a new rifle for deer season this year because of a change in Iowa's hunt laws.

    I got my Christmas early!

    A buddy gifted me a CZ P07 9mm; he loves the platform and thinks I need to be brought into the fold.

    Looking forward to my next range day to put it through its paces.

    My sister wants her own handgun for Xmas but she has no idea which one.

    I told her she needs a special leather purse for it too with a sturdy and thick leather strap that she can wear across her body. These special purses have gun compartments in them from which ladies/women can quickly draw and fire. That's what she wants for Xmas.

    My sister used to be really anti gun. But things have changed. Now that her hubby is old and feeble and can barely walk on knees that will soon need to be replaced, my sister has realized she needs to defend herself from now on.

    This is another thing that everyone needs if they are a gun owner of one or more guns and they cannot keep their gun on their person at all times 24/7/365.

    I keep my hunting rifle, riot shotgun, and assault carbine in my gun safe while I am carrying concealed (or open carry on duty) my pistol with me.

    Good place to keep other valuables too like laptop, camera, jewelry, cash, and important papers.

    Whatever she chooses for a gun, advise her to practice regularly and if she can get some defensive handgun training it would be smart. Defensive training is nothing like going to the range and putting holes in paper while standing still.
    Good advice on the purse with the gun compartment, even though personally I'm not a fan of off body carry.

    My sister is a pre-op/post-op surgery nurse and so she cannot carry concealed on her person. Since the gun is going to end up in her purse anyway she might as well get a purse designed for that purpose.

    She will expect me to teach her mostly everything. So we will start with my big heavy CZ97B 45ACP and snap caps for the basics. Then we will go to the indoor range and rent a few different types, probably compact 9x19's with lite loads not +P and also a 38 revolver or two.

    She said her favorite color is sky blue not pink.

    I have a good friend and fellow Jarhead back from two tours at A-stan who will take her through CQB shooting while I serve as the range safety officer. He has access to a private instructor's range.

    You guys are lucky. In my previous relationship my girlfriend was deathly terrified of firearms. I'm talking walk into the other room and shut the door and yell "Ok go ahead" whenever I'd grab a rifle and head to the range.

    I never got any firearms for Xmas :(

    I did however get plenty of tools all the time so that was nice. Her and I would always strongly "hint" at what we wanted for Xmas that year. She asked Santa for a nice purse so that year I got her a Michael Kors bag with a matching wallet. I asked Santa for a SCAR and got a Craftsman tool set lol.

    Yeah no kidding. Many politicians found that out the hard way years ago when they started talking about assault rifle bans and whatnot after the mass shootings. They went on the news proposing banning AR weapons and AR weapons sold like hotcakes. Folks who didn't even want an AR went out and bought an AR just because they thought the government was trying to tell them they couldn't have one.
