Sheldon Adelson, the chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands and a major donor to Republican politicians, died late Monday following complications related to his cancer treatment, his company said. He was 87.

Adelson spent his fortune -- pegged at $35 billion by Forbes -- to become an influential behind-the-scenes-player in Washington, working to shape US policy toward Israel, help guide Republican Party strategy and lobby against threats posed to his business interests.

Well, there goes the human GOP ATM

I guess I should go RIP here, but his wallet negatively affected too many things I care about.

So Rest in Some Unease is the best I can go here...

How will Trump even consider running in 2024 now?? Can't easily replace those bucks...

I don’t see how the people of this nation see someone spending millions to BILLIONS to dictate policy (and benefit foreign nations at that) and go “this is ok, this is good”.

An actual self made billionaire casino owner — I bet someone is jealous and screaming at his OAN news broadcast.

Good riddance. He is the jackhole that made Online Poker illegal in the U.S.A. He is responsible for Black Friday where I had $13K seized that was on NetTeller. Fortunately, they released it about 8 months later. Back in the early and mid 2000's I was a high level online poker player. It was my side job as I worked from home. I took down a big win (2nd Place) where the final table was played out in Tahiti after an all day online tournament of nearly 6,000 players. I was Top 10 on Paradise Poker in winnings in 2004, 2005. I was top 20 on Platinum Poker, and I was top 200 on Pokerstars back in the day. I got offered to turn pro with my buy ins paid for live poker, but had a 3 year old son at the time and it's a life of heavy travel, so I turned it down. I also had a great career and didn't want to screw that up.

I shouldn't say much more bad about the man. But, I was not a fan.

    RIP Sheldon.

online poker was a breeding ground for racketeering and money laundering

Americans were quitting work and dropping out of college to play online, Mr. Adelson was right.

Well, we finally have something in common... Had to happen someday....

I noodle online, used to be on PokerStars back in the day but now Ignition. Don't recall having any problems getting my money out of there when it closed down, but I'm sure it was under $300 bucks...

Sure I'm not in your league, mostly because I simply don't have the patience that I used to have.... I'll wait out most of the donks, but can't wait out the really good players... On Ignition, I like to play the Triple Ups, because I don't have to play for the win, just hang near the lead....

I am also currently on Ignition. I am not a fan of the anonymous players. I like to track players' tendencies and exploit them. It also makes identifying players that could be cheats impossible. I had to wire money to the Phillipeans to set up my account initially a few years a back when it was called something else... can't recall? It was then sold to Ignition.

Patience is a must in poker. I was blessed as my mother's side of the family has some world class players and it helped my development in significant ways. My Uncle is near 80 now, but is an amazing player and fantastic to share hands and strategy with. My Mom helped pay for my college at UCSD with her poker winnings back with Low Ball was the game in California. I have played in the World Series twice and cashed once, but not much of a cash. I barely got past the bubble.
