A tragedy in progress. I hope they stop the shooters before they take any more lives.
All the best to our Canadian cousins.

We're all just thinking it - let's just admit it. It's those Mormons again.

    many Canadians own rifles/shotguns.

having a CCW is very difficult.

Thanks for the info, too bad the poster I asked the question to twice could not answer it. Their country, their rules, kind of a shame but if most Canadians disagreed with the law it would not be on the books. I am very glad Texas is my home, plus I simply hate winters that get as cold and last as long as theirs do, jeeez I can see how someone would be a little off being stuck there.
Shame to see they may be getting their little piece of the terror war, but then again it was going to happen sooner or later, those that believe they can sit on the fence and no one will bother them are delusional.

It's probably Richard Dawkins, or the Amish!!!!!

Actually, the founder/role-model of one of the main delusions in the world today said "I have been made victorious through terror"....wouldn't THAT delusion likely be the one behind this terror?

Sadly it was bound to happen eventually. Time and time again it's been warned that any nation getting involved in the war on terror makes themselves a target.

I expect a gross over-reaction which will worsen the situation.

And to answer a question. Yes we can own guns in Canada. Yes even handguns. But no walking around with a handgun isn't something an average person can do. I'm OK with that.

Canuks have sent planes and special forces to Iraq. http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/0...operation-that-requires-parliaments-approval/

Lets hope large numbers of Canadians do not turn into whimpering cowards willing to give up their rights and freedoms because of the actions of a few rogue Muslims like what happened here.

I blame religion....YOU seem to be blaming the politicians, or blaming the victim. If this turns out to be holy war (Jihad), then the underlying cause is religion. A promised reward of more virgins than you can shake a stick at, for killing infidels....pretty powerful motivation. Religion takes one away from reality, so it's dangerous, period.

Note all you want. There are things that a man is reasonably expected to know for himself. By your leave sir, we will continue with intelligent discussion.

Anyone who stands in the way of implementing god's law (Sharia Law), is a legitimate target, according to their religion's warped teachings. "Moderate" Muslims won't renounce any of those texts that call for violence against non-believers, so we see part of the problem right there.

You could easily kill a large crowd of people in just a few seconds with guns sold at Walmart. I hope the police took this guy out before he killed too many people.

Soldiers run down two days ago by an admitted Islamic on the streets of Ontario. Now an attack in different locations ,one being Parliament ? Sure sounds like the democrats good buddies the Islamics are in North America. But let's not worry , the greatest president of all time will comfort us by saying the Democrats are in control and Islam is not our enemy. The Sesame Street characters are in control. AKA the Democratic Party.

The soldier shot at the war memorial has died. One suspect was shot dead. It is believed 1 or 2 may remain on the loose.

At this point the City of Ottawa's security lock down expands as police go door to door.

Apparently someone seen running on the Rideau was not a suspect as thought.

5 more shots were heard in Parliament about 20 minutes ago.

The US government has condemned the attacks just now.

It was in Quebec. It was a lone Quebecer, a French Quebecer who had converted to Islam. It appears he acted on his own.

The early preliminary comments on the attacks today in Ottawa make it appear to be a terror attack given the attack on a soldier.

What is known is that someone at the scene of the shooting of the Canadian soldier in ceremonial guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier at the war memorial (who would be unarmed, his gun just a show piece) got a clear picture of the shooter and she and her boyfriend and a friend were taken by police to a station where they are being debriefed. That photo will help identify who the assailant was.

The immediate suspicion is its related to the 6 F-18's sent by Canada to Kuwait to join in the coalition.

Interesting NBC News reported a hightened security alert for terror attacks in Ottawa last week.

What we do have in Canada are marginalized young Muslims becoming radicalized and going to join ISIS and before them Al Quaeda. Some of those radicalized Muslims converted to Islam.
