It was an accident
They should severe ties to Iran
Iran will pay compensation and apologize and that will be the end of it. These things are very, unfortunately, part of modern life by now. I hope pilots will begin simply refusing to take off when missiles are flying about from now on
Canada should fight for reparations for the families of the dead.
This is like saying: There was a storm tonight, it spoiled my mood, so I punched you in the nose. If it wasn't for the storm, I wouldn't have done it.
That's just a lame excuse by transferring responsibility where it doesn't belong.
Or like Jenny's abusive boyfriend in Forrest Gump. His "apology" after hitting her:
"Jenny? Things got a little out of hand. It’s just this war and that lying son of a bitch Johnson and…I would never hurt you. You know that."
I know, right? As General of the terrorist arm of Irans military, it was Soleimanis' entire job to drink coffee, and look Iranian. He was minding his own business in Iraq, meeting with other military officials to drink coffee and just be Iranian, when he was senselessly rocketed. pfft!
Now we know why you're confused.
nonsense. We have too many Canadian Iranians and we want justice. YOu don't get it by going off in a huff, you get it by being in their faces and not letting up.
No. I know why Soleimani is dead. I know why the Iranians at his funeral got trampled. And I know why the passenger jet got shot down. The common denominator is.....IRAN.
Sanity. Thank you.
I didn't say America was to blame. I said TRUMP was to blame.
It is not at all clear that this shoot down was an accident.
"'I am, of course, outraged and furious,' Trudeau said of the crash, adding that whether the tragedy was an accident or not still needs to be determined.
Asked whether he was confident it was an accident, Trudeau replied: 'This is one of the issues that we certainly need better answers to. And that's why this first step of admission of responsibility is an important one by Iran but there are many other questions like that one that will need clear answers to in the coming days and weeks.'"
THE DAILY MAIL, Justin Trudeau casts doubt on Iran's claim that shooting down of passenger jet was an 'accident' as he calls for full investigation and demands justice for families of 57 Canadian victims, By RALPH R. Seriously? So Iran shoots down an airliner flagged in the Ukraine, and suddenly, this is the fault of the US president? How utterly laughable, and despicable your sentiment is. The US isn't anymore responsible for Iranians being willfully stupid and incompetent than were the passengers from Canada who boarded that flight. Your opinion is repugnant.
Just another variant of the same BS position of blaming the US. So, if Obama hadn't left well enough alone, the tragic incident with the Ukrainian airliner being shot down during the Obama years was then also Obamas fault? Cause that's your logic.
You realize that is just as bizarre?
Uh....WHY would they shoot a passenger airline down deliberately. Just being insane muslims, or what? (And mistaken identity is an accident... as well as being a DAMMED good reason not to fly if they say it's dangerous.)
I recently had a flat on my bicycle. Now most rational folks would assume I ran over some sharp object...But me? Pfffttt...I know better! It was that damned, Orange man!
Now, I'm no expert but I will take a wild ass guess and assume the radar signature of a giant airliner, is dramatically different from a missile.
But of course it is hi to blame. If he had repaired and cleaned those darned roads....
What do you mean, "Providing the investigation?"
Yeah. What's your point?
It's pretty evident. The Iranian Air Force are morons.
Oh, as in they should've known the difference. I see what you mean. Well, deliberately tracking and engaging the plane's signature is not the only way that this could've happened you see.
So were the US Navy 'morons' when they did the same thing back in 1998? I wouldn't think so but hey obviously its a simple matter to sift through radar multiple contacts hen under the threat of imminent attack (or at least what you suspect is an immanent attack).
As I understand it you have two (immediate) sources of intel on potential targets, the planes transponder signature and the separate and distinct returns you get on your military search radar. I am told that ideally these two sources of information should be synced/merged with other intel including civilian flight schedules that are also up uploaded into your systems and are supposed to be updated regulatory. On top of that you have intel from other radar systems including airborne early warning (if you have them), radio E/W intercepts and satellites etc. All of which is supposed to inform your shoot/don't shoot decision making.
Also military aircraft can (in theory) if the opposition wants spoof civilian transponder signals during war time. (Only ever saw one 'source' on this so happy to be corrected if wrong on this point).
That's a whole lot of info/risks for an inexperienced commander to deal with, especially if they report to a dictatorial leadership structure that doesn't take failure lightly. So IMO easy to see how newbies how the Iranians could f#$^k up so badly. Glad not to be the guy making these kind of decisions BTW.
