The assault weapons ban worked because AR-15's were still sold and pre-ban magazine were still plentiful.

Top of the list of advantages...putting the gun insanity behind you allows enough mental concentration to confront your real problems:

    Loss of educational supremacy,

    Crumbling infrastructure,

    Lack of energy policy,

    All-War-All-the-Time,

Establisment of the Rule of Law in finance,

...and dozens more issues that spell your demise.

OTOH, unless these things are fixed you're gonna' need the guns when the Chinese, Asian Indians, and a dozen other high-performing cultures come to eat your lunch.

This gun thing is a tempest in a toilet bowl compared to the real risks to your way of life.

Compare your murder rate from firearms with, for example, that of the UK where a gun ban is in place. America has 10x the rate of Great Britain. Now, you tell me which is better.

Was the UK's murder rate as high as the US's before your ban?

    Evidence?

I don't see any links to those things and honestly if we were to ban the legal ownership of firearms without making other changes to the mental health and justice systems I could see Chicago and detroit becoming the norm in all urban areas.

Sounds good but the US and Europe are not the same. You really have no way to compare the two and it is historic in nature really.

The US has always had a higher rate even before your ban but now the difference in violence percentage has actually decreased since the UK put it in place.

You don't see them because you're looking through the lens of a gun barrrel....narrow...confining...self-promoting...self-adoring...self-defeating...and...brother...you'll shoot your own sorry a$$ in the foot long before you ever bag a criminal.

There are a world of greater issues that spell your ruin LONG before the loss of your chicken-sh!t, banjo-country, Second Amendment-induced hallucinations of virtue gun-solution-to-the-unfulfilled-lfe's problems paradigm.

Well...aw shucks...keep your guns, but no whining when the entire world passes you by and you peer through the crack in your curtains as the last vestige of opportunity loads up and trucks off to...India. Fair?

Yes, indeed. Unless we put violence DOWN in America, we're surely finished. Guns are only good for hunting and war.

You presented nothing related to gun bans fixing. I 100% agree that there are far greater issues than guns. Banning, not banning or completely dropping the gun subject has nothing to do with the issues you cited.

And you can stop the name calling I posed a question and you can not answer it. You start to troll because you think you got a bite: "chicken-sh!t, banjo-country, Second Amendment-induced hallucinations of virtue gun-solution-to-the-unfulfilled-lfe's problems paradigm"

Well the world may have issues but this thread is not about the world is it? Well perhaps I was not clear. Still you have only provocation in your post and no point.

ORLY? So nobody has ever used a gun defensively? Senior citizens haven't used them to stop people who were trying to harm them? Women haven't used them to defend their bodies against rape? What world do you live in?

Should they be training them too? Because that is going to cost a lot of money and lets face it, people don't become teachers to fight so some might not have it in them. Then when you factor in the time that training would take away from their teaching, I don't think it would be a very good idea. Don't get me wrong, having a gun saved my life and a few other people's once, and every American has and should have the right to bear arms either for self defense or for hunting or any other legal justifiable reason out there, but this just isn't practical, realistic, or a healthy environment for kids. Living in a highly militarized society has some really awful pyschological (sp?) effects on people particularly children who grow up there.

You said that "Guns are only good for hunting and war." Is self defense considered 'hunting' or 'war'? Or were you saying that guns aren't good for self-defense?

The only people a gun ban will benefit is gangsters, street thugs and other violent criminals.

Everyone else will just be (*)(*)(*)(*)ed and hoping we aren't targeted.

How is that going to help him address the OP? He is already dumbfounded by the question of evidence supporting the claim that bans lower anything.

Who gives a crap about other nations??? But if you want to play that game, let's compare the violent crime rate per capita with the U.K.. Oh, YES, guns were ban in the U.K. back in 1920. Guess who they asked the citizens to send them weapons in 1939??? Then you turned around and ban them again in 1946. Talk about silly. Guess what, If the U.K. EVER askes for weapons from the U.S. citizens again in the future I think they just might have a surprise coming. You try to act so superiour over there and tell everyone else how they should act and if anybody bothered looking at history they would find that England is the cause for most of the problems the world has seen for the past 400 years. Think not??? Care to debate the issue on the middle east and how you people screwed Hussein???

Yeah, I know. Sorry for taking this off-topic. Johnny's rhetoric just annoys me to no end. He's constantly making these absolutist statements and then when asked to support them, he insists that he didn't say it even though it is right there in black and white.

Back on topic: To answer the OP, "Show me how gun bans work to make things better."

My answer is....ehh, I got nothing.

Not here:) They want to throw you and move things away from the OP! They got nothing at all! They will try and draw you in but don't let them. This thread is about the US. We already know bans only raise the total crime rate. Sadly in the US we have a larger criminal element and because the UK has always been a police state of sorts you can not compare the two.
