Wrong, wrong, and wrong. You have a RIGHT to drive ONLY on your own property, which you have none. You have no RIGHT to drive on public property, which streets and highways are, without adhering to certain rules. One of the rules is acquiring a drivers license and a vehicle license. In both cases, you must show proof of financial responsibility to acquire the PRIVILEGE of driving on public roads.

Some words you need to assimilate:

    responsibility [rɪˌspɒnsəˈbɪlɪtɪ]
    n pl -ties
    1. the state or position of being responsible
    2. a person or thing for which one is responsible
    3. the ability or authority to act or decide on one's own, without supervision

    log·ic (ljk)
    n.
    1. The study of the principles of reasoning, especially of the structure of propositions as distinguished from their content and of method and validity in deductive reasoning.
    2.
    a. A system of reasoning.
    b. A mode of reasoning.
    c. The formal, guiding principles of a discipline, school, or science.
    3. Valid reasoning.
    4. The relationship between elements and between an element and the whole in a set of objects, individuals, principles, or events.

    li·a·bil·i·ty (l-bl-t)
    n. pl. li·a·bil·i·ties
    1. The state of being liable.
    2.
    a. Something for which one is liable; an obligation, responsibility, or debt.
    b. liabilities The financial obligations entered in the balance sheet of a business enterprise.

    in·tel·li·gence (n-tl-jns)
    n.
    1.
    a. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge.
    b. The faculty of thought and reason.

Knowledge of these words would serve you well.

Using your logic, if you can't afford the cost of your accident, then how do you plan on paying your financial responsibility to the other person for auto and medical damages? Do you have tens of thousands of dollars (or even hundreds of thousands) just laying around you can spare for that?

Did you lay down our extensive system of roads, or did we all lay them down (by extension of the government)? As far as I know, you can do all the insurance-less driving you want on your own property. But we, collectively, require you to have insurance in order to drive on our collective property. Don't want to pay for insurance? Then keep your car on your own property.

No rights are trampled upon by this law. Since it is the state demanding insurance then their is not constitutional reason to not alow it. If you do not like it then feel free to run for state office and get it changed.

But for arguments sake what RIGHT is being taken away and where is this Right witten?

In my state I can pay a $500 fee to the DMV and not carry insurance.

Yes, car insurance is a scam.

You are not forced to purchase car insurance.

Car insurance is merely a requirement to use public roads.

um ok this is an easy one. simply because accidents happen, and if that accident is your (*)(*)(*)(*)ed fault YOU should have to pay for it via your insurance company. me nor my insurance company shouldnt be charged for the damage you caused, nor should i have to wait 6 months to 3 years and pay legal fees to sue your ass.

not having car insurance is one of the most irresponsible things you can do as a driver. only an idiot wouldnt want car insurance to protect their investment as well as save the rest of us the grief of you not having it if you end up totalling my vehicle.

you do realize its morons that dont have insurance that help greatly to the cause of car insurance going up do you not?

Nevermind i found it, you live in Virginia. lol that was fun, got anymore games???

"The $500 Uninsured Motor Vehicle (UMV) fee, which is paid to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), does not provide any insurance; it only allows you to drive an uninsured vehicle at your own risk. It expires with your registration and must be paid at renewal."

so yeah you can pay this fee and not have to have auto insurance, but you mess up and wreck someones car and put people in the hospital you are gonna pay for it with your ass. only an idiot would agree to pay such a fee, the first time they wreck they are screwed unless they are rich.

lol i wonder how many Virginians actually dumb enough to put their money into something so stupid ?

What's REALLY brilliant about that is that I pay about $300 per year, per vehicle, for my insurance.

I guess Ole Bozo is more than welcome to pay almost double that to NOT have insurance...

So less people have car insurance today than previously and that has caused car insurance to become more expensive?

    Link?

i pay about $1000 a year for one car and $400 a year for the other. even at those prices its cheaper than wrecking someones car and having to pay $5k or more just in auto repairs to their vehicle, then pay for their injuries if they have any, then pay for their rental car and then somehow pay for my car to get repaired as well as my own rental car and treat my injuries if i have them lol.

one wreck could easily run you $20k alone right off the bat.

so yeah go to virginia, pay the $500 to not have to have insurance, cause a wreck and end up losing your house because you were a moron without insurance.

moral of the story, buy car insurance if you are gonna drive lol.
