I see where this site has Food Pairings.Like Tomato soup and grilled
cheese sandwich.{ Which I adored on Fridays as a kid }.
    Or Ham & Eggs.
    Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches.
    Mac & Cheese.
Then there was one ... Waffles and Chicken.
Excuse moi.I never heard of that.Where was I in some barn learning how to
    tie me shoes.
    Maybe Chicken and Dumplins.
    Or Pork and Dumplins.
Are sites just tryin' to test the limits of what a person can believe.

I eat all of that except Chicken & Waffles - only because I don't like Waffles (or Pancakes) - I don't like syrup honestly....

Eggs & Cheese tho is great.... Try it with ham/bacon but with Chihuahua Cheese....

Mac & Cheese is great as well... With Kraft use butter, plenty of salt and a few slices of American Cheese and milk.. Of course you can make it from scratch but that is a bit of a different recipe... What's good about Mac & Cheese is you can throw anything into it.... Try it with bacon bits or even cut up some hot dogs and throw them in....It's pretty good....

    I hate sweets....

I would take a couple of hard boiled eggs over a cinnamon roll any day....

I would eat pretty much anything over sweets.... Yes, as odd as it sounds I hate sweets....

I would take a veggie tray over a cake any day of the week...

It kind of sucks because people offer me sweets I'm like "naw" or makeup some excuse - I just hate sweets.... Of course on my B-day everyone wants to bring a cake .... They can bring one but I'm not eating it....

It's not because I'm picky, trust me I have had my fair share of sweets in my life - I just don't like them anymore... Perhaps it's evolution lol...

Boiled eggs are good diet food because they stay with ya. Lots of protein. As opposed to donuts. Lots of yummyness. ;)

So then you have a problem with O.J.Simpson repeatedly calling a little
girl " Sweets " in the 1980 TV movie - Detour to Terror -.
Orenthal stars as the bus driver.

I don't eat anything because I'm on a diet or because I have weight issues, I eat them because I like them....

If anything I could use about 10lbs, problem is that I'm in my mid-30's and it seems to go to all the wrong areas - like my belly.... What's up with that? I guess it's normal - getting old, I suppose I can accept these odd changes... I'm getting gray hairs in my beard too.... It's like a second stage of puberty lol...

I knew it was going to happen sooner or later lol...

I don't think what you eat matters....

Donuts taste yummy and seem like a great way to have energy. But they have
NO nutrition whatsoever. At least Potato chips have some nutrition.
Sugar is bad for ya.Look at people who refuse to eat sugar. They are really healthy.
At least salt is a natural preservative { as in herring } and has Iodine.
An Egg is almost the perfect food. But they do have a lot of cholesterol.
Kirspy Kreme donuts are too full of fried grease.I guess if one were stuck stranded
like the Donner Party and starving ... donuts like Krispy Kreme would be an ideal
pick me up.However as a daily staple it will turn a guy fit as a fiddle into a schlub
in less time than it takes to buy the In-laws their Christmas presents in July.

Oh I'm not going gray, I just notice a gray hair every now and again - more like white hair tho. lol

Actually I notice it more in other places lol...

BTW, I snack on Cahews all the time...

I think I'm just getting old er transitioning into middle age.... Hey, it was going to happen at some point lol.... I'm not concerned, it's called life.

I don't look old so I'm not worried lol... Actually when people ask me my age I say guess, they guess 27-28 usually, I'll be 36 this year so...

    I hate doughnuts too...

I love fish tho, herring is one of my favorites - especially smoked herring... I also love Salmon and Tuna as well...

As far as sugar, I think I get plenty of that with my beer intake....

I pour an abnormal amount of salt on everything tho... I almost crave salt..

Beer contains no sugar except the alcohol and what is used to
make the fizz.As a former Homebrewer the last step in bottling one's
homebrew is to add warmed up sugar to the fermented brew in order to
carbonate. In the beer fermenting process yeasts eat at whatever sugars are
in the unfermented wort. That is where beer becomes alcohol.
Don't feel underwhelmed .Most old timers haven't a clue as to that.
Become a Homebrewer and learn a few tings.

Do Not Feel Bad.My Best Friend from High School and College roomie
was a true klutz at Homebrewing. The Guy could fix anything and rebuilt
a Voltswagon and Corvette from ground up in high school.
Had a Ham Radio license as a junior in high school.Revelted and recushioned
    his family's 10' pool table.Installed their alarm system,along with
an intercom in most rooms.Graduated with an Electrical Engineering
degree. But when it came to cooking ... he was a Klutz.being a homebrewer is
like being a fine chef.Since he loved Beer and couldn't stand hard liquor,he loved to
get half drunk on the weekends.I could not teach him how to drink hard liquor.
His wife got him one of those small Homebrew kits for Christmas and he
didn't take it seriously.Thought it was a piece of cake; made every mistake in
the book.I could never impress upon him there's a reason he has a stuck fermentation
or his beer didn't turn out right. It was solely due to his lack of concern.
Just like he never cared about fixing a meal.
Just like if someone never has to do laundry or make their bed, then
it just stands to reason, they won't be good at it.
Yer good at what YOU want to be good at.It's psychological.

Well your best friend sounds allot like my dad lol, he does everything you mentioned, he indeed got a home brew kit and I found it one day (years later) and gave it a shot - it failed...

Your story sounds very familiar, because that is exactly how it went down for me...

My dad does have a Ham Radio licence, he (my parents) have a 100 foot tower in their back yard... I make fun of the old man all the time, I'm like if you want to talk to people from around the world then use a message board... He's like "you don't understand" (oh and he is internet literate, he is as good as any of us), but the irony in this is that he does use a forum to talk to other ham radio guys.... I'm like WTF lol... What is the point? spending thousands of dollars on towers and radios just to talk to one another over what sounds like a terrible telephone connection? whatever makes him happy tho, he is 60 - let him eat cake...

Leonard Bernstein ... one of the best.I have his West Side Story CD.
    Symphonic Dances { 23:29 } Totally awesome.Like sitting in a concert hall.
Elmer Bernstein { no relation } in my mind is Film's Greatest Musical Director.
Nominated 14 times for the Oscar. He was that unbelievably great.
My Favorite score,of course, was from my all time Favorite Movie.
    - On the Waterfront - { 1954 }.By Leonard Bernstein.

I have a very special affinity for the movie - On the Waterfront - and that
score. That simple yet cutting score was my call of the wild.I went from being
a teenager { sophomore in High School } to a man almost overnight.
It so impacted me and changed the way I viewed men and Life.
Being a man had a lot more to do with courage and honesty and doing the
right thing as Father Barry tried to impress upon a key figure of the waterfront
in the form of ex-Prize fighter and Waterfront stoolie Terry Malloy.
Terry being surrounded by Waterfront racketeers like his Boss Johnny Friendly
and even his own Brother Charley Malloy.Terry was being groomed to be just like
the Johnny Friendly gang who wore thousand dollar suits and diamond rings.
The easy money boys who did none of the work and took home all of the gravy.
It was that " love of a lousy buck. It's making love of a buck -- the cushy job -- more
important than the love of man. "
It seemed every other sentence of the Movie was a guiding light of wisdom. From the
tough talk to the toying around to the dead serious business of whether or not to
expose the Waterfront corruption for what it was.
Every Teenage boy needs to watch that movie. To know exactly how good and evil
play out in life. And what a fight it is to overcome peer pressure and Do the Right thing.
Every boy is going to have to eventually make a choice in life.Is it better to be honest
and fair and maybe end up at the end of the day with just a little change jingling in yer
pocket.Or to sell out to Lies, cheating and taking advantage in order to pad one's
lifestyle. To be a mensch or not to be a mensch.
