Ahahahaa I freely admit, I suck at math and don't care. I have the basic stuff down. Don't need a calculator to do it. Im good with that. Come the day I wanna build a rocket, Ill get a how to book and read it while Im cooking chicken nuggets.

Math would be a breeze if they didn't use alphabetic code lingo and numbers.

Ive been through this before with my high school geometry teacher. This is what it came down too. Set up a pool table in the room and make it interesting for God sakes. Lines on a chalk board made me glaze over.

Yeah but is eating that unhealthy food because of cost or laziness?
From my own personal experience, its laziness.
We didn't have much money when I was growing up. Beans, greens, rice, macaroni, some fruit and vegetables. Meat was a treat. We didn't eat at fast food places or diners. That was too expensive and would have been a treat. Two people eating at McDonalds has to cost at least $10.00, no? A pizza is $12 where I live. Give me $12 and Ill buy you healthy food that will last more than one meal.

You know, Smartie was there standing near Big Tex the day he lite up like a towering inferno.
Yeah and she tried to put the fire that was shooting out of his boot out with a Budweiser. They had to drag her away.

Whatever it took on that day, thank God Smartie gave up smoking.

They never did find that cigarette butt.

To celebrate.? To break the monotony.? To experiment.?
To finally get around to using that New Corkscrew.
To finally get around to getting somewhat plastered in order
to bark at the moon. I think Miss Smarty onced tried that.
All it did was cause the neighbor dogs to howl most the night &
complains about how wearing curlers to bed isn't what it's cracked
    up to be.

I remember posting this years ago. That growing up in my nice
Cleveland suburb,my neighbor was an important lawyer. They had the
nicest custom home around. They also had an Intercom in every
room with pleasant Mitch Miller music { almost always } playing.
Every once in awhile a little Andre Previn.

Now ya went and did it.Do you realize that is an official
doctor required test to see if one has entered their senior years.
During one's physical he will ask a few basic questions.
    One of which is :
Do you find yourself " taping your toes or feet to the sound of
    music ". ?

I think it is combination of things. Knowing how to cook, knowing how to buy, and having a place available to buy. I am on a fixed income...retired...and my wife and i eat very well. But I can buy dollars worth of green bean seeds and have enough to last just about from harvest to harvest. We do the same with crowder peas, purple hull, cucumbers, sweet corn, broccoli, cabbage, and other things. But we are fortunate to have a little land to play with. But if I lived in a housing project in a big city things would be different. I wanted to grow my own wheat for flour but I cant get my wife to go for it.

I often leave the Jazz/Swing channel on in the background - it's educational.
Musica Urbana is advanced education. ;-)

There is also the gamble that the weather will stay nice.
Not overly wet or a drought.Plus insects have to be looked out for.
A small squal with 60 m.p.h. winds will knock down that Corn.
A Farmers life is one of hoping and watching.Plus knowing the soil
and how and when to plant.Usually a Farmer grows up being taught
how to farm.It used to be a respectable and valued career.
Plus ya gotta rely on the Bank for a loan to get the season started.
Dint the Obama Adm. declare rules where a Farmer is not allowed
to sell their goods { fruits, vegetables } at curbsides. Some states and
    localities enforced and others didn't.

Here in CA the local Farmer's Market shut down because suddenly they were required to be 'organic.' Now we have 'organic' vendors with crappy looking produce that is way more expensive.

There is always a risk but if you plant a wide variety in your garden most likely you will get something. Mulch is the key to drought resistance... that and good soil. A 1%increase in organic matter can store an extra 20,000 gallons of water per acre in your soil. Mulch also reduces erosion keeping the good stuff where it belongs. I don't think that the food safety bill passed. If it does people will suffer because of it.
