Stay off the roads South of Dallas. My little one got his beginners permit and is driving now. Here he is with mom at the DMV.

The Truth { or skinny } about Eggs.
Why do Americans refrigerate their eggs and Europeans don't.?
Not merely because refrigerated eggs last twice as long { around 50 days |
as compared to eggs stored on a counter at room temp { around 21 days }.
    There is another reason.

Europeans clearly think bad eggs taste better.
And Americans, who refrigerate eggs, are clearly in no position to question European taste.

To wash or not to wash, refrigeration doesn't make an egg safer nor does washing the egg. When I had my chickens I washed each egg with a small amount of bleach. A lady who wanted to buy my eggs objected saying, " You are washing off all the eggs protection." So you can have your chicken poop eggs, thank you. I will wash mine and take a chance on salmonells. Bottom line is this unwashed, unrefrigerated eggs are safer. I just can't not wash an egg....

Ran across this pic of Roy Rogers and Trigger appearing at a Saturday matinee in Temple, Texas. Thought you might like it, Foolie. :)

I've heard that washing the eggs in cold water causes the internals to shrink and draw bacteria inside. I got my first eggs from my 4 month old chickens. I made egg mcmuffins for my family this morning. I wiped them off with lukewarm water, but I may buy some "egg wipes".

    What a pair.What a duo.Roy Rogers also had a very kind face.
I don't think he could scowl to pay off a mortgage.
They'll never be another like him.Or Walt Disney.
I was fortunate to see both men during the 50's in their
heyday.I have a book somewhere that highlighted some of our Country's
    Greatest Americans.Like Dr.Kellogg { corn flakes inventor } and
Howard Johnson { famous motels and restaurants } who ran the
    country's largest restaurant chain.

That is what this country started doing with eggs. They are washed
with soap and water in order to counter any salmonella. But washing them
also takes off the outer coating or bloom { a micro membrane coating }.

Dr. Kellog was into eating healthy and being regular.
One of the posters on this site had something Dr. Kellog said in his quote. I haven't seen that poster on here in awhile. I guess the last November caused some to abandon ship.

It may have been me.I mentioned Dr.kellogg a few times here
at PF. There's a terrific movie starring Anthony Hopkins as
    Dr. Kellogg ... - The Road to Wellville - { 1994 }.
The movie is Out of Print. One would be lucky to ever even
see it on TCM or AMC.
It's very well made { a period piece } outrageously quirky and
    quite a hoot.
    I would pay top dollar for a good DVD copy { I doubt any exist }

Watched a few of the Roy Rogers TV shows a few years ago. Of course they are very dated but interesting, The Happy Trails song at the end connects.

Documentaries on Disney reveal a remarkable man. His father apparently worked on construction of the "White City" - the great Chicago World's Fair.

Why I had me no idea'r that Roy was a cook.Or chef of short order.
I do know he liked to take his motorcycle for long rides into the country
to find the best places for homemade pies.
He also dint like wearing a helmut.

    Not a bad run.

I usually run about 1.5 to 2.0 miles too on weekends and in the middle of the week.

I like running uphill because it gives your heart a good workout -- better than flat.

So I run uphill going and downhill returning.
