Why Happy New Year.Anytime could be Happy as long as one
has a correct attitude.I'm not a believer in things for the sake of
other's feeling good because it's Tradition. It's Like Fake News.
How were New Years for those fighting in WWI. or especially WW II.
    Or The Korean War { where U.S. soldiers literally froze to death. }
It was so cold in the winter in S.Korea that men had to urinate on their
rifles in order for them to fire right.
New Years celebration is a gimmick. What if someone lost their livelihood
and home in the last year.Or a Loved one.
I'm Totally Agin Feeling good for the sake of other's to Celebrate.
Why not just feel good and stop all the Theatrics.

Did anyone bother to tell Mr.Loudmouth Guitar man that
Bourbon and Scotch and a Budweiser don't mix.
In fact even Scotch and Beer don't mix. Then again Gin
and Beer are the worst mix.But Blacks almost adore it.
    Go Figger

I can say this about George Thorogood because I bought a
Thorogood CD and double LP of his in the last year.
Loud but Good.I dunno about how thorough.

Best wishes for 2019 to everyone at PF.

May this year bring us progress towards the More Perfect Union envisioned by the Founding Fathers.

why not feel terrible all the time... there's always someone in despair, so feel for them and never cheer for anything uplifting because it's just a show of arrogance... hey, maybe the progs can use that as a campaign slogan :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sounded like a war zone around here last night. There are times when the traditions of our 'new society' get a little nerve-wracking. Namely NYE and Cinco de Mayo.

    Arriba.

that's actually a good thing, i've been on other forums that allow edits 12 hours later... now pf needs to apply that across the entire board, not just this sub-forum, unless they just recently did so ???

Hmm... It's been my experience that all subforums have the same one hour limit.

I edit my posts a lot. I'm always touching the 's' button instead of 'a' and 'o' instead of 'p'.

maybe you're correct, i don't edit that much and haven't paid attention to the time frame availability... although i always (almost) identify my edits with "EDIT: (fill in editted comments here)" without changing original post except for spelling/grammar changes...

Food for thought... aka FB wisdom. :)

My New Year's prayer: “Prayer of an Anonymous Abbess:

Lord, thou knowest better than myself that I am growing older and will soon be old. Keep me from becoming too talkative, and especially from the unfortunate habit of thinking that I must say something on every subject and at every opportunity. Release me from the idea that I must straighten out other peoples' affairs. With my immense treasure of experience and wisdom, it seems a pity not to let everybody partake of it. But thou knowest, Lord, that in the end I will need a few friends. Keep me from the recital of endless details; give me wings to get to the point.

Grant me the patience to listen to the complaints of others; help me to endure them with charity. But seal my lips on my own aches and pains -- they increase with the increasing years and my inclination to recount them is also increasing. I will not ask thee for improved memory, only for a little more humility and less self-assurance when my own memory doesn't agree with that of others. Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally I may be wrong. Keep me reasonably gentle. I do not have the ambition to become a saint -- it is so hard to live with some of them -- but a harsh old person is one of the devil's masterpieces.

Make me sympathetic without being sentimental, helpful but not bossy. Let me discover merits where I had not expected them, and talents in people whom I had not thought to possess any. And, Lord, give me the grace to tell them so. Amen”
