Got a text from my daughter in Africa this morning telling me her new, tiny little kitten killed a snake in her bedroom this morning! Yay cat! Her neighbors want to buy it a fish...

Three cheers for kitty. What kind of snake?

Cats are good protectors when there are snakes around. If nothing else they will alert you. Theodore alerted me to a mocassin who had slithered up on the porch to my work shop. He was sitting so still and looking so intent I had to see what he was looking at and it was a mocassin.:omg: I grabbed Theo, put him inside my work shop and called my husband.
I had a kitty once that brought home a coral snake that he killed.. I looked and it was..."Red and Yellow harm a fellow" not the Red and black friend of Jack...type. Kitty survived so all was well.

I've had two different cats in my life that were bitten on the head by rattlers down in West Texas. Amazingly enough, they survived, but their poor old heads sure did swell up.

Yeah, those rattlers are bad news. Our dog was bit a few years ago and rushed him to the vet for treatment. It cost $400 plus dollars for the vet hospital stay plus the treatment. When we got home our neighbor told us his dog was bit but he didn't take his to the vet..and it survived. LOL..I learned a lesson that day. I also did some reseach and read that mega doses of vitamin C will help a dog recover from a snake bite. I decided next time it would be a trip to the drug store for liquid vitamin C.

Kimi tell me about your trip to Galveston. Did you see the wood carvings? Did you take lots of pictures? Did you eat a lot of fresh seafood? Did you have fun?

Yeah, I think they must be able to heal themselves a lot better than we can. Neither of these cats were taken to the vet, either. On the other hand, we had a Cocker Spaniel when I was a kid that got rattle snake bit and didn't make it. Tooter was her name....sweet dog.

I had a ball! We really only had about a day and a half in Galveston and we spent the first evening just hanging out on the balcony of the condo, then Saturday rode out about 15 miles to a beach house some other friends had rented, then we all rode into the rally area. By that evening we were ready to hang out on the balcony and watch the sun set again. We were right across the street from the ocean, on the seawall, so it was awesome. Didn't have a lot of time to do the touristy thing, really, but I sure enjoyed the entire trip. I've got pics, just still working on getting them sorted so I can share them.

I'm highly allergic to shellfish, so no, I didn't get to partake of that. When this one guy heard that I was allergic, he told me maybe a rally in Colorado would be better for me....LMAO. It was just good to be in Texas, too. I've got a pic of the Texas flag flying on the ferry we took. I loved that part, too, watching the dolphins play and follow the ferry. So, yes, it was a great trip.

It was a green snake, so I'm hoping it wasn't poisonous although they do have green mambo snakes in Sierra Leone. She said it was the first time she has seen any snake since she got to Africa. The part that got me is that this kitten is probably 8 weeks old if that. Tough kitty!

I had a cat once that had a brown snake from my compost wrapped around his head. He was trying to paw it off. lol I gave assistance.

I never much cared for snakes till I actually held one. It feels so cool when its on you moving. I liked it.

The rule here is if it has a triangle shaped head with something that looks like a neck its poisonous. Timber Rattlers and Copperheads are pretty much in this area although all the years I spent in the woods and outside working Ive never come across one.

I think all the pit vipers have triangular shaped heads.

They put a new 'skin sign' on the bldg across from mine... took off the offensive Virgin Airline ad and replaced it with one like this:

Man, the power of advertising... I've been craving one all week.

That reminded me of two things.

The mistake of drinking too much of that on my birthday a very long time ago. Falling down, hitting my head and looking like a unicorn for a week. I cant even smell the BBQ sauce now. Big lesson learned.
    Wear a helmet. lmao!

My mom telling a story of when she was down south with my dad before he went off to war. He was stationed in Tennessee and she saw drunk cows staggering in the field at the Jack Danial's place.

I don't wanna build memories like those... just belt down a couple to take the edge off!

Maybe I'll just chill out with this tune, easier on the liver.
