Damned good point. I stopped watching because the straight arm was banned, spikes were removed, the grass turned to plastic, and you had to start waking up the punter when it was time to kick the ball.

The only one that is un American is you with your constant whining about things the founding fathers have endorsed as being American as it can be...peaceful protest. Perhaps you should take up a new hobby instead of constantly obsessing what other people do with their lives.

By the way, I recall the righties on here swore off football, so how would they be able to answer you????

What do you mean 'spikes were removed'? Are you referring to spiking the ball after a touchdown or spikes as in cleats?

'Offensive players cannot grab a defensive player's facemask. Straight-arms are still okay but they can't grab'

I love Vonnegut's work. He has such a sharp and sarcastic style. Been a long time since I read Breakfast of Champions. I'm not sure most people would have the fortitude to read it today. "Nonsense is Strength".

If you can't cut the heart out of it and reduce it down to data points for PowerPoint slides to give the appearance of something wonderful taking place, then it won't be part of today's education system. Arts are all but forbidden because the courses lack the objective markers to use as measurements of learning.

In Education today, if it can't be quantified, it's seen as having no place in school.

I've read all of his books but "B of C" is my favourite, with "Slaughterhouse 5" second.

Why is it no spikes would cause you to not want to watch football? Do you simply have something against molded cleats?
All I know is straight-arms are legal and used.

It's always good to have a critic of society who holds our ridiculousness in front of us. I like his short stories as much as his novels, though only a handful rise to the level of his novels. I was trying to remember something I'd read in Player Piano recently, and ended reading the whole thing again. It struck me that he saw so much in society so long ago. If more Trumpsters read his work, they might think of Player Piano as a warning of the current 'Educated Elitist' society.

    I agree completely.

That's the way it always is ....... same for me ..... try to find a particular passage and end up reading the whole book again. I have read several of them over and over again.

Perhaps so, but why does it bother people so much? Why do people get so angry over a simple and silent action?

Because everything they read and watch for 30 years has preached hate.....This is nothing but an extension of more hate for your fellow man......Without hate right wing entertainers got nothing!

This is a very good question, an important question. The answer can probably be found in the work of Josef Göbbels. He understood the psychology of the masses and I suspect that this particular point is related to the phenomenon commonly found in children whose parents are substance abusers and/or child beaters.

There develops within the family a code of honour in which "blowing the whistle"/bringing shame upon the family is the cardinal sin, placing the whole blame on the child who "tells". It's complicated.

I have to throw Skinner into the mix. A little dopamine goes a long way.

I really wonder if anyone would have cared about all this if it had not been picked up by the media and turned into political poo-poo.
