    Do you think abortion with minorities is it at an epidemic level? I have heard it called black genocide do you think that is accurate?

    If RvW goes overturned and that leads to the end of legal abortions in America, it will be because all the states vote to ban abortion individually. If you think thats going to happen, then isn't a federal law keeping it legal undemocratic?

    But we all know that isnt going to happen, and many if not most states are going to keep it legal. Some people will have to travel out of state to get an abortion. Which I oppose. I hate abortion, but I also hate laws designed to compulse morality, which is what abortion laws are. I think abortion should be legal.

    And it will be even if RvW is overturned. Just probably not everywhere. And thats not great. But its not the end of the world either.

    I saw a fascinating study decades ago, that was looking at declining crime rates and correlated them with access to legal abortion. We forget that Roe did not come from a vacuum. Various states had experimented with less or more restrictive abortion laws before Roe, and you could literally draw a line 15-20 years after abortion laws were loosened, to lower crime rates before Roe nationalized the trend. The theory was that when women were forced to carry unwanted fetuses to term, those kids were less likely to have the kinds of support systems, two parent incomes involved extended families etc that produced a stable childhood. Once they hit puberty, crime rates would begin to rise or drop depending on their number.

    Which is highly probable that since the majority of abortion occur in socially disadvantaged women, that what is actually being reflected is a break in the poverty cycle

    I was surprised. I had never even thought about such a connection. I had not read about it before, but that was because nobody was looking for any correlations to crimes stats that delayed chronologically from the crimes themselves. They were looking at poverty rates, unemployment, gang affiliation or changes in law enforcement such as harsher penalties. You have to wait until these unwanted fetuses that are born and hit puberty for their impact to be felt and compare those numbers to what any given state produced after the abortion laws in that stare were first liberalized.

    Of course organised crime could also factor in since we found they were heavily involved in illegal abortions here in Australia

    I think it will drive progressives out of Red states. I can't think of anything more thrilling and exciting for conservatives than that.

    Support from the man isn’t always enough. Still gonna have a huge uptick of welfare recipients. Seems anti-choicers want more people dependent on govt.

    It’s weird how some people want to allow government to have increased control over what you can and can’t do, and over decisions that should be made by individuals and families.

    I want government out of my personal life as much as possible. I sure as hell wouldn’t want them mandating what I can and can’t do with my body.
