It makes sense that local laws apply to a specific region, but is it necessary for it to apply elsewhere? For instance, why would a tiny town in Wyoming need to adhere to gun laws in NYC?

And you admit you were wrong to state that there are not blends of Socialism and Capitalism. Good for you.

Again, it seems inevitable because of your short lifespan. Take a broader look at trends (say 100-1000 years) and your view might change. It's far from inevitable.

That's why when the left talk about compromise or anything at all to do with just a slight shift towards more state power, just say no.

It's like with the gun thing where they want to disarm everybody. They don't really care about guns, so much as they care about YOU having a gun. If you have one, it makes it so much more difficult for them to haul you off to a work camp.

They don't mind if the government has guns. They just don't want you having one.

We think alike on this, then. I can see feudalism, its birth as we speak. Whether it will survive into adulthood, I cannot say. I do not see socialism growing, as it applies to the average american. I see more welfare useage, which would be much higher dollar wise if not for welfare reforms, which has hurt poor people. But no new socialistic programs for the public at large. So no growth in socialism. If you want to call a Commons, socialism.

I have been concerned with the numbers of out of work people, with no place for them to go, for years, given the rise of AI and robotics. I believe it will implode capitalism as we know it. People were thinking about this very thing in the early 20th century in England. They had groups who would meet and discuss it. For what was to come, eventually.

Socialism is a minor necessity for public schools and interstate highways but of little use for much of anything else. Necessary EVIL is the best choice of words. Same for government of any kind.

Again I have little concern for what happens 100 years from now. Predictions that far into the future are highly speculative at best. But speculate away. You're not hurting anyone. LOL

I agree. History is replete with examples of how marxist nonsense infiltrates societies. The only thing I disagree with you about is the morality of wanting everybody to end up like those poor sad sacks in Venezuela where they are starving in the streets, or the soviets who had to endure Stalins terror, or the cambodians who were killed by the khmere rouge.

Why you want that for us as well is, admittedly, something I don't understand.

But that's exactly what you want.

It's not what he wants, he's just naive and unaware of the 'inevitable' that what he wants will turn into

No, the history of communism is well known by us all, and Vegas is also well aware of how it always turns out.

Do you really think that the left doesn't want every republican put into a concentration camp? That's exactly what they want, and are committed to seeing that happen.

I do want a shift toward some more socialism. But I don't want it to go to far. That is Venezuela. I want a blend....just a little more left than what we have

I thought he was speaking of a different model of communism, or was it socialism? I think he knows the models we have seen with dictators are doomed to failure. Just like the brand of capitalism being practiced in the gilded age was doomed to failure, just as our current form is. We had to save capitalism once already. From its excesses.

Yes. Democratic socialism works well there but they also have strong capitalist components. People in Sweden hate to be called socialist because they are proud of their capitalist core but compared to us they are very socialist

Definitely -- Socialism works in Scandinavia and to a lesser extent Canada. All humans have a right to food, shelter, medical care.

From my view, it's just looking at the admittedly short history the world has experimenting with socialism - it always turns to ****. You cannot keep a balance with socialism because the advocates for it will increasingly (knowingly or unknowingly) push for more of it ('compromise?')...once the opportunity is seen to make a radical change it is seized. We haven't gotten to that latter part yet, it doesn't mean we won't - and based on history it will happen should compromise continue.

It's just a reflection of human nature and seizing on perceived opportunities. Start slow, then speed up
