Celebrate the country however you like. The NFL controversy was based on the demonstrable lie of "hands up don't shoot". There was never any admission from these players of being wrong.

So while I have no problem with taking a knee, the specifics of this instance make it hard for me to back the players.

name one other worker that gets a free paid vacation when accused of a crime, especially if on video - when found to have been in the wrong, they should be required to pay it all back

They have a right to protest. They don't have a right to protest on the job. If I spent 2 minutes of my day protesting in front of my customers, I'd get fired. That's the real crux of the issue. The NFL players are being paid to be out on the field. Their employers have a right to demand that they not protest (the employers can also allow protest).

If you not intelligent enough to figure out that a single human cell is not a baby ... Fine. What about the other examples of Red Establishment trampling on liberty that were discussed in my post?

Talk about friggen denial. Cherry picking one point out of a post and ignoring the rest as if it did not exist.

To make a mistake is human. To repeat that mistake over and over again after one has been corrected (a claim that has been proven false) is the mark of a fool.

There were never that many Natives in North America. That number includes North, Central and South America, the latter 2 not represented by our flag. Nor did our flag even exist before 1776. Also there was no genocide. You don't know what that word means. Most died from diseases they had no immunity from.

As I suspected, you couldn't specify one. Personally, I am against asset forfeiture, but I would have a tough time arguing that it's unconstitutional. As for "zygotes", children of any age are not considered full-fledged citizens, so that's a non-starter right there. And since you are most likely also in favor of rights for illegals, where is this sudden concern for someone being a "citizen" in order to have rights coming from? And I am an atheist who opposes abortion, so does that make it okay? Am I more entitled to my point of view because it isn't informed by religious belief? Because that insults 90% of the population that believes in God, if so. And the "separation of church and state" is also nowhere to be found in the Constitution. It's a fiction, first promulgated by Thomas Jefferson in a private letter, made law by fiat of the Supreme Court.

You mean the guy who intentionally targeted Hispanics because they might be illegal aliens... in an area that was literally over run with illegal aliens and were causing huge problems for the community crime wise? That guy?

This will take a while, but I'll respond to your points here one by one...

Actually, the principle author of the Constitution, James Madison, outlining his views on what the Constitution would allow and not allow (all of which of the latter we now have, including paper money and a federal police force) in The Federalist Papers #10 and #51, did not mention the Declaration of Independence at all, so it's pretty safe to assume that it was not meant to be taken into account.

Not above, prior to. You cannot just ignore the law when you think your rights are being violated. You have the right to petition for a change in the law, and if the government gets too repressive, you have the right to rebel against the government to force a change in it, but you're still restricted by the law as it stands.

What happened to #1? Anyway, so far so good. But you fall down again pretty quickly.

Who are you talking about here? Corporate/big business GOP? They represent a tiny fraction of the Republican party, one generally detested by real conservatives and most Trump supporters.

Again, only the Big Business wing of the GOP does this. Conservatives love free and fair markets and oppose corporate welfare, price supports, import controls, etc. If you remember, Clinton got NAFTA passed with Republican votes.

Conservatives are generous with their own money. Liberals are only generous with other people's money. Study after study has confirmed this, too. Conservatives give around 10% of their money to charity, liberals a measly 4%.

Right, because pot, prostitution, and porn are "essential liberties". I remember it being enshrined in the 1st Amendment that we shouldn't be limited on how many hookers we can bang. You seem to have a problem with the difference between "liberty" and "license". "Liberty" is the right to do whatever you want as long as it's moral. "License" is what you want, the right to do whatever you want as long as it's immoral.

Sorry, I can't let that one go. Is it only carp that are holy, or are other fish holy as well?

As for women, they have the right to their own body. When they create a child, that child is a new body, and women don't have the right to kill it just because it's a nuisance.

The "right to privacy" doesn't exist, it's another fiction of the Supreme Court. There's no right to a "fair" media, there's only the right to a free press. And early versions of the media were far more opinionated, or were, until Donald Trump's candidacy exposed the media for the rabid leftists they all are. As for private property, search & seizure, and fair trials, I would put the Republicans' record up against the Democrats' any day.

Speech, religion, the press, to peaceably assemble, to petition the government for redress of grievances, to bear arms, no quartering of soldiers in private residences in peacetime, to face your accusers (Dems want to isolate rape accusers from the accused), etc.

What a foolish statement. Unless one is color blind, he didn't have to. Did you think he was talking about white football players?

I an getting satisfaction from the fact that Trumpsters are largely ignoring my earlier post. They don't want to be reminded of the real issue. They want to pretend this is about flag and country. Trumpsters deserve another chance. Here is what I said.

NO! You and Trumpsters just don't get it. I guess it is too complicated for you and you have a lousy memory. This is not about flag and country.

Trumpsters have a very convenient memory and they want to forget what really started all this, and it wasn't nine football players disrespecting the flag and country. What started this ludicrous controversy over a game were statements made by Trump. Yeah, I know, you wanted to forget that. So does every Trumpster. It makes suddenly boycotting your favorite football team and quarterback or running back really stupid.

In the Deep South, to a nearly all white crowd, to his fire-breathing base, Trump fed them red meat. The week prior, nine black football players out of nearly 1700 players took a knee during the anthem in a silent, peaceful protest, itself an American tradition. Trump called those nine black football players sonsabitches. The crowd cheered wildly.

He wasn't through. Then he called on the NFL owners to fire those black players. The crowd cheered wildly again.

I told you it was red meat for his followers.

Trump still wasn't through. He then called on all Americans to boycott professional football. The football-loving Alabama crowd was a little muted on that one.

That is what started this moronic controversy over a game loved by millions of Americans, including Trumpsters.

Now they don't love it anymore because their hero has spoken. Talk about being stupid.

The insane controversy even involved a stunt by veep Pence that cost the American taxpayer over $242,000. Talk about being stupid.

Well, he is your President. You voted for him.

Yeah, he is mine, too ... unfortunately.

Haha leftists hate the confederate flag and tout the American flag, until black people tell them the American flag is a symbol of oppression, then leftists hate the American flag.

Leftists basically do whatever black ppl tell them to do.

All the moralizing words to not erase the true absurdity and hatred of the USA being declared by standing for the British national anthem and protesting the American national anthem, given the national anthem celebrates 1.) the defeat of the British to give the USA democracy and 2.) the defeat of the Confederacy and slavery.

They might as well have held up Confederate and North Korean flags.

Publicly declaring hatred of your country is not patriotism.

The hatred of the United States, the history of the United States, and ultimately our Constitutional form of government is the open rant of many Democrats on this forum. If any of them post any condemnations of the United States they are assured plenty of likes from fellow Democrats.

However, HATE is the CORE of the Democratic Party. They hate the flag, hate the USA, hate our Democracy, hate capitalism, hate business owners, hate the police, hate Christians, hate rural people, hate white men - even themselves if a white male, and hate American history. Expressing hatred is the loyalty acid test of the Democratic Party.

90% of Native Americans died from the diseases brought into this country. You were correct there. However, there was genocide. You should consult your history books. Start by researching the Pequot Wars, the Mystic Massacre, the Siwanoy Massacre at Cos Cob, the Pound Ridge Massacre, the Massapequa Massacre, and so on. Research Captain John Underhill. You will find your research yields "genocide".

I don't claim to know what the highest form of patriotism is but I would suspect that it is doing what is best for your country no matter how politically incorrect it is.
In some cases, that may be even be heart felt & intelligent dissent such as opposing ill conceived Foreign Wars that are counterproductive to America's best interests & driven by powerful foreign lobbies.
However, in all cases, it has little to do with flag waving etc but is doing what is most difficult and sacrificing what is most dear for the good will of ALL loyal Americans.

Yes, there was genocide. No, all did not die of disease. Yes, there were campaigns of literal total genocide including by the USA. For example, Custer ordered a surprise attack against a peaceful Native American village that had never be in any fight with the USA and had relocated and disarmed as had been ordered. Every child, woman and man was shot or bayoneted to death. Total genocide. This was not rare. National leaders openly called for murdering Native Americans and "the only good Indian is a dead Indian" was a popular slogan and often the military strategy.
However, it also was common to only attack a village while the men were out hunting, using the children, women and old people as human shields while abusing them. This was a standard US military tactic. The NA men would then be told unless they disarmed and surrendered, all their children, women and old folks would be killed. However, when the NA men surrendered they all would be murdered and the village turned into a rape-camp for the military and settlers. This is why millions of Americans will claim some NA past - 99% of the time maternal because it was by rape.

Cowboy and Indian movies of the past are not history documentaries like many people believe.

The true tragedy was because NAs looked too white, they were not enslaved like blacks were. If white people had enslaved NAs they would have then had value. The result is that while black population grew dramatically, even hundreds of years later the NA population of the USA isn't 1/10th was it used to be.

The percentages ranged from 25% to 90%, depending on the region.

Realizing this, many NA tribes tried to stay away from white people and realizing this disease was frequently used as biological warfare against NAs.

The Spanish did not recognize the disease problem and the result was the TOTAL extinction of very race of people indigenous to all Caribbean islands. The practice of the Spanish, who considered NAs as soulless animals, was to capture as many slaves as they needed for laborers - and mass murdering all the rest of the population. However, as disease and abuse rapidly killed off the small percentage they had as slaves, they replaced them with black and Pacific Islands slaves. The last surviving indigenous person of the Caribbean was a woman taken to England who died a long, long time ago. Total genocide and no, it was not just by disease. The ONLY thing that ended these same extermination practices in Mexico, Central and South America plus the USA Southeast was the Catholic Pope declaring that NAs were humans with souls. So while they still could be enslaved and abuses, they could not just be outright mass slaughtered no different than killing rats or chickens.

In rare areas, disease did work to NAs advantage, primarily those in tropical and jungle areas where they had evolved to some immunity against the many diseases swamps and jungles have. In campaigns in such areas against NAs, often not successfully, disease killed far more of the white troops than combat.
This is why the Seminoles of Florida were never defeated, the only American tribe that can make such a claim. For over 100 years after, Seminoles refused citizenship until the Federal government threatened to decertify them as a tribe and accordingly their lawsuits for their land would be dismissed and their land seized.

    For you ignorance is bliss......

by the end of the 20th century most scholars gravitated to a middle estimate of around 50 million, with some historians arguing for an estimate of 100 million or more.

On 8 September 2000, the head of the United States Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) formally apologized for the agency's participation in the "ethnic cleansing" of Western tribes.

That's for all the Americas, not north America.

While it is difficult to determine exactly how many Natives lived in North America before Columbus, estimates range from a low of 2.1 million to 7 million people to a high of 18 million.

    That's from your own source.
