Students In Detroit Are Stupid

Maybe. But keep in mind that the Unions don't help when they shut down and limit charter schools because they adversely affect teacher income and job security. Charter schools can give more opportunities to those kids that DO want to learn. And Detroit Teacher Union don't like um.

If teachers' unions wanted to maintain the status quo, wouldn't they do a better job of placating people like you?

 

Put up or shut up. Do you have any evidence of this?

 

The teachers unions don't have to placate people like me. All they have to do is disempower people like me. In California that's what they've done. The unions contribute to the campaign funds of the people running for the school boards, get them elected, and then collectively bargain with the same people they just got elected who are indebted to them.

 

Oh, don't get me wrong, I very strongly dislike the idea of a teacher's union (same with police and firefighter unions).
